Defective Rockwool bug eggs inside

i bought about a dozen cases of Rockwool, well I was in for a surprise. They’re littered with eggs, fungus gnats and aphids I believe.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I still have 6 cases left. I’m wondering if I could sterilize them before I use them. Possibly freeze the cubes. For a week or two. I hate to throw out $1000 in slabs and cubes. I contacted grodan. Still not heard back. my last run was just upsetting, there’s black specs in them, I’m pissed. I just picked a random slab and cut it in half, shiny little black balls are all over.

I had a similar issue. Sometimes greenhouse supply companies actually have greenhouses on the premesis in too close proximity to the inventory. I don't know how to fix it, maybe try to steam it?

Bake them. Rockwool is spun volcanic matter, won't get hurt in the oven. Bleach them if you want. You should be able torinse out the bleach. I'd bake them.

I’m not required to testing so I used a low dose of spinosad, laid all the slabs down n filled them up, there like balloons, so if they don’t drowned n die now they’ll die way before they can fly.
