Deering!!!!!!!!!!

Hi friends.
Just wanted to share something with you. During our outdoor grow a few years ago, some lovely but hungry deer got inside our lil patch and proceeded to eat all the bottom branches off our beautiful plants. We of course were devastated but then noticed something super cool as the plants went into flower. The plants that had been chewed on developed the biggest buds! I have now coined the phrase "deering" and it is a part of our TLC (tweaking, leafing, clipping) routine. I usually deer twice during the run. Deering just consists of removing the bottom branches and leaves. The first time I deer the plants are about 2-3 weeks into flower and remove all bottom growth about 3 inches from the ground up the stem. I then deer again about 4-6 weeks coming up the stem about 6 inches. I only deer after the veg and into the flower. I believe by taking all those pithy lil branches and lil bitty buds (that dont really add up to anything anyway) the plant puts more energy into the cola buds. Yes, I said cola buds plural. This technique (with bending) puts at least 4 wicked big "cola buds" on each of my plants and good size nuggies all the way down. Booyah. Hope it works for you!
Happy deering. Thanks Bambi bongsmilie

Referring to "4 cola buds" I was talking about my indoor. The outdoor I "deer" as well, and WELL, BIG BUDS ABOUND.
Round of applause for the deer.

Dont know how to even respond to that. Ever heard of deer netting? Or the "Scare Crow" motion detecting sprinkler that works and keeps everybody out!?? Im a nature lover so talking about shooting anything grosses me out but whatever, to each his own. Im glad you got something out of my post.

They are a pest in my country, I don't enjoy killing them but they destroy our native forest. I don't just kill them and leave them I take the meat with me.
Blame the English

Sounds like topping and removing suckers so it can increase weight your right, try to avoid 'deering' just before and during flowering.

Interesting! But I actually dont start the "deering" until I switch over to 12 (the outdoor I start about 2 weeks after I transplant them outside. So they ARE in flower! Ohhh you know how this biz goes...there are so many opinions and good ways to do things. This works for me. I do top the plant (in veg only of course). I bend during the first half of the run or so (till the buds get too big n stems too hard. I feel like when I bend, it damages the stem so the plant sends big energy to the damage and also shoots out more "cola stems" thinking maybe the cola is damaged so she has to make a new one? Hmmm. But the deering I actually remove the suckers, the leaves AND the little buds on those little bottom stems. I mimicked the deer. I went from 1/light to 2+/light and I remain consistant. Like I said...works for me. i was just hoping I could share the love with somebody else.

My ancestors are animal lovers. The native american kind. But they were also good hunters and ate deer so I feel you.
