Actually, when ever you see your ladies, just whip it out and piss all around them. That should keep them away.im growing and one day i went to my plant and there were fan leafs that were eaten off of it and a deer print right next to it.
Best way to go! I piss once or twice a week around my plants in the woods... Never been touched by any animals...

DO NOT KILL THE DEER!! Not only is that cruel and selfish, but it could very well be illegal. And if you did, a .22 wouldnt get the job done.

I have had good luck in the past using Repels All deterrent spray. I only spray them a few times during the grow season... mainly in the first month or so after planting. That method seemed to work well for me.

That is actually what I was gonna suggest as well and a method I've used for years. The smell of hot peppers on a Deere sensitive nose will keep him very far away. Deer tend to stop messing with the plants once they start flowering. Use the pepper spray til you have small buds on it and the rain and what have you will wash it all off way before harvest time.

thank you!

Peace love and happiness

using a dang electric fence is ILLOGICAL!!!! I never said spray ur buds either. Come on now use some commen sence. Pepper spray and Ganja yum i think i want some of that right now! Why ur trying to look so smart with your capsaicin? Use ur other side of ur brain which is common sence dont spray the stuff i plan on smoking with pepper spray!!!

EVerybody else- You want an even easier way to keep deer away go piss around everywhere you garden. That's it. Go piss crazy and you'll be fine. Y buy it when you got it urself. Your the biggest preditor of all! Just go Piss or piss on peace love and happiness too!

To the OP just go piss crazy! please dont kill the deer or harm it. Peppers and piss will keep the deer away!

Deer are curious and once they get used to the smell and feel no threat then they'll start to eat your garden again. I've had them come right outside my cabin and eat a plant on my porch.

try spraying everything you dont want them messing around with with the pepper spray mentioned above. Once they rub their soft wet nose in it that'll be the last time you have a pesky deer messin with you stuff.

urine does not do shit!! I have 3 or 4 that have been almost completel;y destroyed by deer eating the branches right off! To their defense, we have not had a drop of rain in almost 6 weeks! When it was wet they were not doing it!! I have put gallons of piss around them and they are still eating!!!

ok then if pissing dont work make your own pepper spray and spray everything around your plants, your bags, top soil, and even fan leaves and stems on your girls. Just not your buds. Your deer might not be as skiddish as other deer in different locations. But pepper spray on their nose will work if pee dont. Peppers, garlic, and water mix. Everybodys deer situation are different these methods work most of the time. Now if you got deer that just dont care about humans and the piss dont work, and you dont have enough shubbery around to spray with pepper spray or they are flowering or what not. Then it sounds like you need to stop being cheap and invest in a fence, chicken wire, or any thing of that sort. And depending on the deer determines how strong you need to build this. If you wanna go all out- - get post hole diggers, 4-10ft 2x4s, 50 feet of chicken wire the heavy duty stuff not the netting shit!, and some U shape nails. Dig 3 foot holes with post hole diggers in four spots around your girls to make a square. Drop 2x4s in holes, wrap with chicken wire and secure with U nails. All the way to the top. Then run chicken wire over the top. secure with U nails. Then you have a cage to protect them from those peski deer.

Come on people use common sence here! Everybodys deer aren't the same. Some peoples deer are more intrusive then others. But their is always a way to deal with the deer with out harming it. If one thing dont work for YOU that doesnt mean it wont work for somebody else. Also there is more then one way to answer all math problems, long as at the end the answers is the same what's the problem? And if your way didn't work try another!!!!

We have a lot of deer, that are constantly raiding our gardens (mostly Lily's). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Just sprayed with a product made from putrified eggs, and garlic. Thinking of covering the good plants with lightweight deer fencing.
You can try adding everything from moth balls, to soap, to piss, to every pepper you can think of...if you don't put a physical barrier between your plants and a ravenously hungry deer, then it's a 50/50 toss-up on whether you'll have leaf damage from a deer.

A hungry deer can and often will walk right through/by a possibly objectionable scent.

It'll be enough to deter a few deer initially, when whatever magic potion you try to sprinkle around the plants is still strong. But over a few days even, a lot of these chemicals/scents you put around your plants fade in strength/pungency.

Just my two cents worth, but I would strongly recommended deer netting. It's hard to see from a distance of 30 + feet away, so even if there are passersby in the forest, they'll likely glance right through it, and not notice it.

You could use this Ross Netting (found at Amazon), and it'll cost you about $20-$25 for about 100 feet worth (6' in height):

I know guys who use .22 caliber for 90% of the deer they shoot. Of course these guys are experienced, but a good marksman with a good shot will drop one no prob.

So do I.. actually I know alot of Alligator hunters that use .22s as well but thats point blank. I just wudnt use a pea shooter like a .22 to humanely take down some game. IF im going to kill something im gonna make sure there is absolutely no suffering. Even if that means a double tap to the head.

thank you!

Excuse me, I was unaware I was addressing a simpletons post. Capsaicin is
the compound that is the primary active principle producing the “heat” of red
peppers. I don’t know about you, but I’d prefer my garden to smell like a
garden not like a batch of salsa. I do agree, spreading predator urine around
the premises is probably the best solution to the deer dilemma.

My common sense already figured out what capsaicin is. thanks though. and if capsaicin "is the primary active principle producing the “heat” of red
peppers." what's the "heat" in green peppers. B/c I have red and habanero's and they both are hot so does the red one have capsaicin and the other dont cuz its green? Also it's not ment to be used as popery for your garden either. If you have a problem and you want to deal with it. Then I think one can bear the smell of peppers for a few hours till it drys on the surfaces of leaves, branches, and what not. Just dont directly spray something you plan on injesting. so i woud spray fan leaves not buds. and your corn stalks not your corn. so on so on.

Sounds awesome, I’m sure all of your advise will lead to a nice garden.
There are many ways to get from point A to B, none of them are necessarily
wrong. However, given the option I’d much prefer one that doesn’t involve
mucking up the situation farther. And by the way, I said “red” pepper because
they are generally on the mild side leaving it easier to point out its “hot”
characteristic.

To each his own.

OP- The piss method has never worked for me. As long as deer get used to the scent being located in the same area, they will eventually become fearless of the boundaries.

Is this netting strong enough? I've read reviews about netting and some users claim that it tears easily and the deer may plow right on through.
