Decisions, decisions...

To chop or not to chop....wish I had pics to post, but here is my scenario...
I live in the mid-atlantic region and currently have a hurricane/tropical storm/noreaster coming. It seems to be getting weaker, however looks like rain and 30+mph winds with gusts as high as 45mph for next 3 days with about 8inches of total rain. I have a tangerine dream standing 8'7" and with approximately 3wks left to hit the 70 day time frame. I feel it might survive the winds, but the water I dont know. Really dont want to lose anything to bud rot, but also hate taking her too early as well....temps for next 3days will hit about mid 50s during the day and barely dropping into the 30s at night....

Any suggestions??

Thats how I feel about it too but at the same time id hate to find it smashed by a limb or a tree

If it sll blows in from the NE, all I have to worry about would be a tree or limb...shouldnt get hit with much rain from since she has what my newbie self considers good coverage from that direction...

It doesnt help that im running on empty either...the little devil on my shoulder saying TAKE HER NOW while the slightly less devilish devil on the other says to let her finish...lol

Im in the same exact boat looking for the same answers. Im 9 weeks in of WW/BigBud. Normaly i would let it ride but due to moving to a new climate/ late start/ and this cold is just testing my patience. Sandy may make or break me and i hope i come out with the win. I just started a thread lookin for the same. Check it out and let me know what you think. But 3 weeks and a 8 footer i think she would take that no problem. Just cover her with a tarp or some giant clear garbage bags

Take half of it. That way if you loose the plant you have a little smoke, even though being inmature. If the plant makes it through the hurricane maybe the rest will have time to mature. Just a thought. Best of luck people. She might be a bad one!

two years ago we had a storm in september just like this one and it ruined 6 ladies of mine that were about 8' x 7' each. i would take em. seems like the big plants never hold up good to rough weather.

Leavin her. I feel the other side of this storm she will be just about prime. 9 weeks in. In a mild impact zone. Suppose to rain/snow where i am. Just gonna cover her. Luckily i have 4 days off at work and ill be with her through it all. 3 cameras 2 Infared motion (for the coons) She will be in a play house so the tree branches that WILL UNDOUBTEDLY fall dont hit her. THis will be the last test of the year for many. Preparedness can never go to far if there are lives at stake. Good luck bro. Will check up and see what happens. i say LEAVE her. Just cover her or build a wood frame to protect from winds and debris. Try and post pictures no matter how crappy they are.

Well I just double check the calander and 3wks left was this past weekend, so its about 2wks out...the protection from the wind isnt really there like I thought it was....the top is all over the place in 20mph winds...will check it out when the sun pops up...if I build a frame, that will draw attention to her from my nosey neighbors...if she doesnt look to battered, I will let her ride for another day and play it day by day....assuming I dont have to work tomorrow...its always something....just wish it didnt take til sept. 1 to start showing :/

Well I decided to take her down...everything that was pointing up, was hanging straight out from the stalk and that made me nervous...now it just leaves me wondering if she would have made it.

Next time (hopefully wont be a next time), I will do as I seen newbie did, and take just the top half....had she been shorter, she prob would have made it unharmed
