The more I look into hydro and lighting, the more it makes me just want to use soil and 26w cfls. I just see the hundreds adding up to thousands and it makes me want to stick to the basics. I only want to grow one baby at a time. Any suggestions? I can't make up my mind. Does it make that big of a difference???

do you have a way to get clones?

otherwise, if your doing soil, do more than one

you don't wanna waste a couple months on a single male, i promise

oh, and don't use 26w cfls

please?

if your gonna go with cfls, go with something a bit more worthwile, like 85w ones...

and good lighting doesn't have to send you up to the thousands...

400w HPS only 140.00 USD (shipping included in that) at high tech garden supply online

i dunno
just my opinion

I have some fem seeds. They are supposed to turn red, purple and blue, and cure to a lavender. The problem with the hps is space and heat. Will I get the coloration with the cfls?

uhh... dunno... sometimes you need really cold temps to bring out purple colors... but whatever

who said cfls don't put off heat?
who???

i've been running a 400w hps with a homemade cooltube and temps haven't gotten abouve 84 with it... and thats without a real ventalation system besides a couple box fans (gotta get my high cfm muffin fans soon, dammit)

and space?
my 400 only covers about a 2.5 square foot floorspace, so its not taking up a bunch of room (keep in mind they have 250 hps lamps too, which would probably be better if you plan on doing a single plant only)

in the end, you gotta figure out whats right for you

best of luck friend!
