Decisions...decisions...what Led under 500 bucks?

After giving it much thought i decided to upgrade my lighting for Led, at first i was just thinking to complement my cfl setup with one of those "shitty" mars panels, but after some research i know is not the way to go.
So under 500$ whats the best my money can get for a 3ftX3ft growbox.
Is the super Helios pro 4 800w the best i can do?Or there s something better?

I would look into a quantum board build then they shine where height can be an issue. You can get closer to the canopy than with cobs thus letting you grow more plant. There's two threads currently on the QB's containing much information and you can DIY a QB light for much less than $500

Just my $0.02

PS- I am pretty sure if you did not want to DIY @robincnn could build a light for you and have you all setup for a plug and play light.

Actually i dont wanna a diy, i dont have tools, knowledge or time for it..but i admire who does it.
The thing is that i live in Europe it would be hard and expensive to ship something from the US..

I know they have shipped outside the US best bet would be to contact @robincnn direct and ask him what he can do for you shipped to your location.

That helios team make a lot of claims without really telling you much about whats in their light. Throwing brand names around isn't much use unless you know the exact model of chips they use.
I would rather have this unit (below) despite the lower wattage.
Timber grow lights http://timbergrowlights.com/250-watt-citizen-clu048-square-framework/

I would also second Evil-M on checking out the quantum boards.

Its hard work finding decent manufactured LED Grow lights in Europe, the market is full of Chinese crap. Sometimes its more cost effective to buy from the USA.
There are a lot of good advertisers on here who make kits, diy and pre built units, but they are pretty much all American, All I can say is speak to them in person about what you want and what it will cost after import and delivery charges before you discount the idea entirely.

True!Thats why is so hard to chose something, and there s so much misleading info that actually i was thinking that MarsH where really good..
I m already speaking with the timber website to see the price for delivery and important fees, but this QB of 250w u think is enough for 3ftX3ftX5.2ft?
ANd i didnt find any info on those Evil-M that u spoke...

You can email these guys as well they will ship to Europe and these COB's have also been performing well for me aside from the QB's.......

It will be to expensive to ship, i check with timber and just for delivery is 90$, duties, customs and taxes are additional.
Its bloody expensive..

I was agreeing with evil mobo who posted above me when I said "evil-m", I was been too lazy to type obo on the end. :bigjoint:
The timber light I linked is a cob light, its nothing to do with Quantum Boards. Sorry if I'm confusing the two.
But yeah that light I linked is on the low wattage side but still Good for a 3x3 space. 250w of quantum boards would also be really good too.
If you want to talk to timber you can type @RainDan and he will appear as if by magic.
If you want to talk about quantum boards you can type @robincnn (northerngrowlights) or @Stephenj37826 ( Johnsongrowlights)who can tell you all you need to know about QBs. They sell out very quick though.

I feel your pain when it comes to finding good products in Europe, I ended up building my own and bought my cobs from northerngrowlights.
In all honesty all the above companies sell quality products, they will give you the relevant info unlike a lot of LED companies, they know what is good for business and what we as growers need to know.
I hope you can find something that suits your budget.

Sorry to hear the delivery prices you out.
A COB meaning Chip On Board is a large chip with many tiny diodes on it so it may run for example 50-75w each.
A Quantum Board is a circuit board with many small diodes, The diodes used are very efficient so you get a lot of light for every watt of power.
I believe both systems are very efficient and both use white light to create a full spectrum.
I really don't know much about quantum boards other than they are very efficient and people seem to like them, they are pretty new to the growing community. Cobs have been around a bit longer.
If you do a search on here you should be able to find picture of both types. There are loads of people growing with Cobs and more and more people buying the QBs and documenting their grows.
I'm afraid I'm not been very helpful in explaining the difference..

I use 9 citizen clu058 Cobs over 4x4 space. It runs about 660w and is roughly as powerful as a 1000w hps. That is just half of the space I have, I am converting to all cobs soon, I used to run 1800w of hps in flower and 400w hps in veg tent.
Right now I'm slowly switching over but waiting for my first cob grow to finish to see the results before I spend any more, so far the plants are very happy and looking good.
