How did "Dead" the vocalist of mayhem imagined afterlife?

Good question.

Only thing I could find was that he was "haunted by thoughts of the afterlife" and was possibly affected by the psychological disorder called "Cotard Syndrome"...which in essence is a neuropsychiatric condition denying the existence of ones own body.

I've read Lords of Chaos some time ago so I can't really remember if that book had much about it or not. It's probably a good place to start for a bit of an answer though. Dude had quite the story.
