Thanks for all the advise!!!! Also, good eye BeKind! my tank is my 2nd favorite new hobby, lol, green terrors and jack dempseys :). SO I am in the process of putting my room together in a catalogue, and as soon as the parts are all here, I will be posting! I have done 2 cfl grows which worked out ok, but this will be my 1st HID, and this thread has made me VERY optimistic. I'm gonna be cracking some MK Ultra beans from T.H.Seeds

Eyezla, staring at a fish tank for hours watching green terrors relieved me of a lot of stress, very relaxing especially while smoking some good bud.
So what is your set-up going to be? What are you going with? 600 watt and what tent? What about ventilation? I am looking forward to seeing your set-up, these tents are really so easy to maintain as well. Hands down a very good investment. After I am done with this grow, I am going to start my 2nd grow and by time that grow is ready to go into flowering I will have another tent by then. Well good luck eyezla, happy to have you on board with this thread. Peace!!!

Yes BeKind, I totally feel you on the fish tank being therapeutic. I'll sneak in a pic of it among my future grow pics, lol. I want 2 tents so I can go perpetual!! So ya, my list on paper looks like:

-a Phantom Ballast,
-HydroHut Silver Edition tent, 4x4x (7 or 8, can't remember how tall it ...using HydroHut because it seems to be the only tent company who acknowledged the toxic off-gassing thing that I initially posted about.
-600w Hydrofarm Radiant, I may get a MH conversion bulb and veg in there too if I can't get a good veg room somewhere else.
-400cfm inline fan, active air, (anyone think 400cfm is too much for a tent? Given my primary concern was the toxic off-gassing of a plastic tent, I wanted to error on the side of safety seeing as how 1 fan would be handling exhaust, light cooling, and air filtration )
-an appropriately sized carbon filter depending on the size of my inline fan.
-AND now I'm still contemplating getting an intake fan just from what I read on the hydro hut link ( http://www.hydrohuts.com/Faq.html ), Still looking for more input on this matter tho.
-In addition, I'm planning on using CANNA nutrients, Ideally the whole line if I can afford it, tho I may skip something till round 2 to save money.

I can't wait to put my order in!!!! Obviously I'll keep y'all posted!

Definately keep us posted, I say the 400 cfm is fine for all that, I also have a 4" in-line duct booster in the bottom of my tent acting as a supply. That booster fan dropped my temp by 2 degrees. My tent is even smaller than the one your getting and I havent really had to bad of temp unless it gets real hot outside I have a window box fan in my bedroom where the tent is pulling in fresh air all day and night.

My electric bill more than doubled but not to where I cant afford what I am doing. My electric bill averaged anywhere from $25 to $35(before growing), now its hitting $70-$80. But i was running my setup 24/0. I was doing that for 2 weeks and now its on 18/6 and very soon probably today I will switch to flowering in my tent. My plant is getting way too big for the size tent I have. My plant is over 14" tall already, in 2 weeks it will be vegging for two months. That is my downfall, the size of tent I got because its way to small for what i want to do....I am eventually going to convert my tent now into a mothering tent and purchase a larger tent for flowering.

Nice thread, very informative. I was also planting on growing using a tent of about the same size and identical setup however I was planning on running a 600W HP lamp instead. I too live in Socal where it gets hot however I don't anticipate much heat related issues as we move in to cooler months. Anyways my main concern is noise. How noisy are those 6" inline fans? I planned on having it set up in the same configuration. Filter. fan cooltube and vent out of the tent. The fan being in the tent should be quieted when it's closed.. but still I want as little noise as possible. I was hoping I could get it as quiet as an oscillating bedroom fan.

Also, how do you attach the ducting to the tent? I've seen some higher end tents have like sacks that tie on to the vents but I haven't been able to find one like that considering my size. I also saw vent adapters on eBay but they are pretty expensive and don't even come with all the parts. The tent I was looking at just has a whole with a flap that you can cover it. What do you guys recommend considering a 6" ducting setup.

Also would a 6" inline fan in a tent of this size also be good for both ventilation and cooling? I was hoping I could just leave a vent open at the bottom and the power of the fan will be able to draw fresh air through.

My box window fan is the loudest thing in my bedroom, my 6" 440 CFM sits on top of my tent and its very quiet, I thought it would be loud but its not. Black on Black welcome hope it helps and please keep us informed and post pics. My Ducting is 8" cause I have a 8" cool tube and then reducers to my 6" filter and fan. I have a 4" in line duct booster in the bottom pulling fresh air from my window box fan.I dont need it but i got it just in case if high temps come around. 6" fan will be enough power to pull fresh air from flaps open. Make sure you have a window open getting fresh air in your bedroom. My hot air from fan has 6" ducting coming off and goes to my bedroom window. My tent temps 73F 60%rH, today in SoCal weather it rained here. Yes those flaps you can use during veg but make sure your tent is light proof with all flaps secured during flowering.

These are some pics of my plant, since I got this running its looking oh so good now. Perfect tent temps during mid afternoon today.

Great photos. Wow. Do you think a 2x4 is big enough to grow 4 plants with a ebb n flow hydro setup? I'm debating on going bigger but I'm afraid too big the operation will be too obstructive and difficult.

I would definately at least go with a 4x4x7 or 4x4x5....My tent loses a lot of space with my light n filter. I cant even fit the filter on the top like i want it to be. No room, go bigger than 4x2x5. Thats mine. Thank for saying nice pics, for some odd reason my plant does take a sexy pic...LOL I love these tents, I am going bigger when i get my taxes. Really think about it, its always easier to go smaller with bigger than bigger with smaller tents size, if that made any sense....Yes I am a stoner who is rambling cause I am High!!! LOL. Later bro. I am off to see my mom and will be gone from my tent for 4 days....so I hope my plant will be ok, I just started flowering today. Lets go Ganja Gods and give me a beautiful FEMALE HONEY BABY!!!!!!! Fingers crossed while rolling a spliff-ski!!!

Black I think its always easier to do stuff in a larger space then trying to do something with no space. At least with a larger tent you the ability to do more things and grow bigger plants. You should really weigh your options before gettting a tent and what size tent you want. I didnt weigh my options because I am limited on space living in a 1 bedroom apt. I wish I would of gotten a 4x4x7, its only two more feet and if I would have that two more feet on depth and height I would be able to do a lot more and have plenty of room for flowering. I just changed my tent to flowering and I am worried cause my plant vegged for 56 days and my plant is 15" tall and I might have to do some LST cause I wont have the space because of my light. Just keep in mind bro even though the tent is 5' tall almost a 1 1/2' is taken up by my cool tube...So I really only have about 3 1/2' of space. If i would of measured out the 4x4x7 in my bedroom I would of purchased that one instead of my 4x2x5. When I get another tent I will take the one I have now and set it up in my closet cause it will fit in there, thats a benny for having a small tent too....Good luck and keep us posted on your set up and what you go with bro.

Eyez,

Great info on the toxic-off gases, i wish I would of known that before I got my tent. Good info and findings, that will definately help me out when I purchase my next tent, good looking on the link!

Ya no prob, glad it can be of use to you. I am going pass on the intake fan for now and see how it goes. and FOR THE RECORD....I did some serious due diligence when tent shopping and I have decided that the SILVER EDITION HYDROHUT is for sure the tent to go with. It was the most expensive tent I found at $350, but I weighed pro's and con's, did all the grener's reviews, and when I put my order in,( YES, MY ORDER IS IN!!!!!!!! 2 MORE DAYS!) the 20yr+ owner of my local garden store said that this "was a great tent, not made of flimsy cheap plastic like the others, and its got a removable floor piece that comes out for easy clean if you spill anything".

So for all tent shoppers, I am recommending spending the extra $100 and get the Silver Edition. Not to be an elitist, but think about it, items that cost less do so because they are inferior....I will cheap out on my shampoo and laundry detergent....not on my cannabis, lol.

I just put my tent into Flowering 4 days ago, with the weather being an issue here in Cali its has been reaching 98F outside so I have to kick my A/C on and I use that 4" booster fan pulling cool air into my tent keeping temps in my tent @ 76.8F 29%rH. My plants are starting to strecth too, I feed them using "Make It Rain" so these are some pic of them sleeping...Hopefully in a couple more days I will find out there sex. I also have a DinaFem Auto Haze going 24/0 on CFLs. When that starts Flowering I am going to put it into the tent as well so it can exploded. I also included a pic of a plant I top'd.

This is my 1st ever grow...I am learning a lot and making dumb mistakes. :dunce:

I bet you will be very satisfy with your purchase. I could not afford that because I needed to spread my $$ to get everything set-up. Taxes season is coming and I am definately up-grading to a larger tent. I really like the Jardines but I am really considering looking into your tent set up and info on Hydro Hut. What are you doing for ventilation for your tent?

Cant wait to see some pics, hey throw a pic of your Grrrrrrreen Terrrrrrrrors.:-P

Maybe we can have twin set-ups if I save enough. I really want to get a 1000watt or 600watt HPS light if I got w/bigger tent. I might think about selling the light I have now. Wow I am rambling non-sense....my bad.

Later bro,
BKB

Thanks maui, if you dont mind me calling you that short for your name? I actually wanted to wait 2 more weeks before putting my larger plant aka MamaDude(bgseed), into flowering. What worried me was the unknown of how much more it grows when flowering. My tent is small and my light is large so I dont have too much space inside. This is my 1st ever grow and the reason I am LSTing the other plant which is under a CFL is to learn how to Lst a plant and see if I can do it. Also there is a small plant I top'd which I never done before and wanted to see if I can learn that too. I am doing all this really for my next grow. I am going to focus on 1 plant and with what I learned from this grow I am going to Veg the crap out of that next grow and if it gets too big, I will be able to bend it and LST it so it can get even bigger. I am trying to teach myself about how to get maximum use out of the small space I have. I want to try to also learn how to SuperCrop too n SOG.

Info on the LST plant, thats a freebie from Attitude, DinaFem Auto Haze. I am just expierementing with different techniques to make myself a better grower. I am a complete nOOb so any advice you may have to help me out both good or bad I will listen to. Thanks Maui. Hope that explains why I am LSTing that plant. Its a sweet looking curve...LOL

Here is a pic of my Lst and MamaDude after I made it Rain yesterday.

Wow I really wrote a book, sorry for rambling on.....LOL

Peace
BKB

Have you gotten your set up completed yet???

YO BKB and all other tent usin foo's! Its late on sunday but I am wired because I have my setup 90% complete!! I can't sleep, last time I was this amped was when I was like 8 and it was xmas eve, lol. I will try to post some pics here in a few minutes. To answer BKB as to what I'm doing for ventilation, I decided to use a cheap inline fan just to vent my lights strait through the tent, and I am using a 4" active air can fan (165cfm) attached to a 5"x18" charcoal filter for my exhaust, and I will be passively in-taking air through an open vent hole which I plan to cover with just a plain old 3m filter from home depot . I actually haven't yet figured out how I am going to attach the filter to the ducting tho, nor how to hang that awkward can fan. I got a 4" flange for the filter but dont quit know how to attach it yet, no screw holes in the filter. Annoying that all my ducting and lights are 6" but my can fan is 4". So I guess I need three 6" -> 4" ducting reducers (one for each side of the fan, and one for the filter). If anyone has any input on this PLEASE provide, lol. Can't wait to follow your grow BKB. I oughta look into how to set up one of those of my own for you all to follow. is it easy? K, Im gonna ty to post some pics!!!!!!

Ok, I hope this picture upload works, here we go. For whatever reason, the posts didn't upload in the order I took them, It was supposed to be plants, then tent, but the pics are all scattered, so sorry for that, lol. Little explanation, I have various pictures of the tent, but I have 4 plants vegg'ing under fluorescents until I get the last of the parts and kinks worked out in the tent. The 2 plants on the left are Lemon Skunk, and the 2 plants on the right are called Stinky, which is allegedly Romulan X Grapefruit :))))))), so happy

Yo BKB, I tried to get some terror pics foyas too...Little fuckers are hard to take pics of cause they never stop! I had to cut the flash cause it was reflecting off the tank, which, in turn, slowed the shutter speed, which in turn makes for blurry pics, haha. I tried tho. I wont abuse my new knowledge of pic uploading tho, lol, and I"ll try to primarily keep it cultivation related. So in the tank, is just 1 green terror, 1 jack dempsey, 1 turquoise sevrum, 2 tinfoil barbs, a pleco, a blue african cichlid, and some gold fish that I got to dirty up the new tank with good bacteria, thought they'd be toast when I transfered my big fish back in, but they all seem to co-exist surprisingly. I tried to mainly highlight the terror and jack D in the tank since they are both huge (bigger than my hand easily). Ok, welp, I think its time to blaze some full melt hash and see if I can finally calm myself down for the night, haha
