Dark period after flowering?

hi guys was wondering if someone could help me out,

need to know if its a good idea to give the plants 24 hours to 72 hours darkness before the chop (heard it increases resin)

not even had my equipment delivered yet just trying to get as much info as i can

Plants produce trichomes during the dark cycle...so yes an extended dark period before harvest will let your plant finish producing resins as well

I've harvested with and without a dark period and I don't follow that urban legend voodoo bs anymore but I don't condemn the practice.

Yes, it's a must do. 24 hours. No voodoo real sauce.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I have gone to a 48 hour dark before harvest For me I find it allows the plant fill up if you will with amy flush water then after cut that evaporates and to I feel it helps the taste a bit as it wicks the last nutrients out.

mmm, not saying your wrong, but I always thought during the dark period that rather that uploading nutrients like a plant does during the light period, it pushes waste and unneeded nutrients out, kinda like taking a piss/shit. My understanding is that it is a good idea to do to aid the flush process as well as trich production, I do this and do notice a tad more resin and stickyness, not huge but enough to have made me do regularly. As to aid in flush, I think it helps, but this is only my experience with the way I grow.

OK, so now we have maybe, 24hrs, 48hrs and now 72hrs. Seems kinda all over the place. Would this truly be beneficial or is it strictly a personal pref like trimming before or after drying?

kind of same concept with chopping it in the more morning for more resin
i
I've wondered about that.. They say to do it cause light degrades thc... I can understand this with an outdoor grow, but do inside lights emit enough uvb or what ever type of light that degrades thc? Or is it really more for the lower fluid levels in the plant after dark cycle..
I'm not contradicting you, i've always heard the same thing..

If a breeder recommends to do this, then there must be some validity to it somewhere.

I cut the lights when I start trimming and it takes about 3 days to trim. We took the time to inspect the 3 days trim separately. With a 30x scope and a naked eye there is nothing visually different between 12 hours dark, 36 hr dark and 60 hrs dark. Who knows for sure.. I wouldn't inconvenience yourself over it.

so some ppl say do it others say no

what are the facts?

does it help with resin production for sure 100%

will it harm yield or taste of bud need 100% facts

do i have to keep an eye out for mold

Pretty we're talking about pre trim. Like 24-48 before chop.

Yeah, that's what I am saying too. I cut the lights in the flower room and start cutting plants down 1 by 1. It takes about 3 days. The lights get unplugged just after the lights out on the last day of flower....., then i start trimming the next morning, then again the next morning, then again the next morning. So 1/3 get 12 hrs, 1/3 get 36. 1/3 get 60.

Like I said, I took my 30-100x scope to buds from the three groups. I had a second opinion. We saw nothing that would lead us to believe it is worth an effort. With this setup, the plants get 12-60 hrs of darkness just as a convenience to us. If I could trim it in 1 day I totally would.

You're not going to be able to get a 100% answer on this... even if you tested with gas chromatogaphy (sp?), you won't get a 100%...

Just try both and see if it is worth your time. That's the best way to test anything. Opinions are like 1 gram per watt harvests... everyone on RIU has them..

Agreed, I put mine in a dark closet for 24-48 hours but I dont know that it really makes a noticable difference. .....And dont ask about flushing around here :) Sparks fly every time it comes up. I swear its worse than politics. :)
