D.N.A. Genetics: Martian Kush... would like to hear from people who experienced plant

Hello, I have my hands on a Martian Kush seed that I ordered online. I ordered the seed because it looked like a very impressive strain... But now that I have my hands on it i noticed that there isn't very much information about the strain actually being grown. Am I the only one who thinks this is a worthy strain DNA has??? I mean for christ sake its even one of the most expensive seeds you can buy from them. I know I'm not the only one on the planet thinking this lol theres gotta be someone out there who would like to enlighten the world on this rare strain.:peace::joint:

If anything it should be fire. I got the holy grail kush and some kosher kush, and they are the best. MMG x OG #18...sounds like another winner IMO. PEACE

I don't mean to be a wiseacre, but without information on the strain actually being grown how did you conclude it was a "very impressive strain"?

Don't get me wrong, it probably is good, but why are you so sure?

theres gotta be someone out there who would like to enlighten the world on this rare strain.
That person "should" be you. Grow it out and post a report. Seriously. Do the community a favor and fill in the gap. You have the ceeds and interest already.

Well to be honest I have concluded that this a very impressive strain because I have done the research on the genetics of course. I have read grow reports on OG Kush #18 and obviously everybody thinks the strain is FIRE. Martian Mean Green is also a cup winner. So why wouldnt I conclude that this is a very impressive strain Jogro?? But anyway I'm just waiting on this bagseed plant to finish flowering so I can go ahead and start on my Martian Kush. When I do I definitely need to post a journal on it because not many people "grow and show" this strain lol.

Ohhh and my b on waiting so long to reply guys. No internet was a bitch. ESP. when I'm a die hard Battlefield 3 fan.Anybody agree?

Because crossing two strains doesn't necessarily give you the 'best of both worlds'.

In some cases, a cross between two excellent strains brings out the worst features of both plants, and you end up with something worse than either parent alone. In *MANY* cases crossing two unstable lines throws off a wide variety of phenotypes, some of which may be good, some of which may not be so good.

"Cup winner" is a can of worms, but being brief, its a mistake to assume that something that wins the High Times cannabis cup is better than everything (or even anything) else, or even that the plants that grow out of your pack are going to be similar to the ones that won the cup. Again, sometimes true, sometimes not so much.

The point is, you can't assume that a cross between two popular "name" strains will yield a top notch offspring. There are LOTS of strains out there that are F1 crosses between two "name" strains, and they're just not all good.

But anyway I'm just waiting on this bagseed plant to finish flowering so I can go ahead and start on my Martian Kush. When I do I definitely need to post a journal on it because not many people "grow and show" this strain lol.
OK, sounds good.
Note that lowly "bagseed" can still give you excellent results, in some cases as good or better than commercial lines. See the grow report in my signature for one example.

FWIW, the picture you see under my screen name to the left of this post is a close up of the trichromes from a plant grown from bagseed pulled out of 10+ year old cheap Mexican bricked weed.

Martian og is FIRE. A very underrated strain. Had some when I was in LA Christmas before last thru a connect who worked at a dispensary before they put it in seed form. Smoked it my whole vacation damn near and I'm talkin abt I was dumb high off of it. Picture perfect buds. I was smokin Martian og, grandaddy purp, super sour diesel all at the same time and the Martian blew them all out of the water IMHO. Can't wait to order mine and see if I can find that special gem. Fwiw

I'm smoking a MartianMeanGreen joint right now, one of the best smokes I've had...crossed with OG#18 (which I'm growing out this season) should be stellar!

Oh you have a point Jogro on that one. I had five WW seeds last year and none of which reminded me of WW lol and all but two that i grew had a different phenotype. They all tasted great and were fairly potent just lacked on yield because I grew with fluorescents. And also that is why I bought 5 seeds of martian kush because I know there is always a chance of some losers popping out. If I dont find anything I like Ill just grow them out and learn from the experience then try out something new. If not, then Ima keep the clone of my favorite one and start on a perpetual.
Oh and I checked out that journal you told me about and I liked it a lot. Lots of useful information and only proves my theory more that there is no such thing as bad weed, but bad growers hahahaha. I only have 4 grows under my belt that were bagseed and three loud grows and needless to say none of my bagseed plants came out like mid. Ill show you guys a pic of my plant tomorrow she started her fifth week of flower yesterday. She smells like a damn flintstone vitamin lol. Ill name her skunky flintstone when im finished with her hahaha.

There is quite a range of stuff out there CALLED "white widow", representing a variety of different genetics, some good, some terrible.

Before learning this, I've actually grown some absolutely lousy generic white widow. . .OK yield, but long flowering time, poor flavor, no frost, and mediocre potency. That's the last time I try to grow a generic version of anything without a good positive review first, and I think I learned a good lesson there.

Thank you. If you liked that report, check out my other two; they're a lot more detailed, and they represent genetics you could actually buy!

In my experience there definitely *IS* "bad weed" and more specifically, "bad genetics". Growing skill matters mainly to help achieve the potential of a given plant's genetics, but for example, he best grower in the world can't turn a low THC hemp strain into something worth smoking. There are strains that are just not that potent, tasty, or otherwise interesting, and no matter what you do with them, you can't end up with top shelf stuff.

I think what my "old bagseed experiment" proves is just that the Mexican commercial genetics are a lot better than many give them credit for, that's all. In truth, this wasn't "really" an experiment, because I had grown this stuff multiple times before, and knew what to expect from it. Again, top shelf. . .no. . .but definitely not bad, and if I gave it a different name (eg "Jogro mint haze") I think a lot of people would like it.

I only have 4 grows under my belt that were bagseed and three loud grows and needless to say none of my bagseed plants came out like mid.
They came out worse or better? I'd hope better, or why repeat three more times?
