cuttings from cuttings??

hi i recently took some cuttings off of a few plants and gave them to a friend, about a month later he gave me 4 back from which he took from the cuttings i gave him ,, i had grew the plants from cuttings in the first place . and was thinking will the cuttings he gave me back be ok to use i am worried that might not be worth doing as have b told the plants can lose strength and yield because it so many genrations down of a cutting???

genetics are genetics ... i have been running the same plants for several years, every 6 months i run the mother and keep a fast clone to replace her with. potency doesn't seem to be a issue as long as they aren't mistreated and abused.
