Cutting Storage

Is there a way to take cuttings off a mother to clone, but to store them to be grown later? Also, can you take cuttings from a clone and reclone, so to speak, if that clone has gotten large enough? I dont have any experience with clones or mothers.

why would u take a clone off your mother and try store it? why wouldnt u just wait till your ready and snip it off the mother then ? as for cloning clones x ? thats fine.

I only have one space available. So no veg and no flower room. I want to store clones from a mother, then plant them, take clones from them and store til I'm ready to plant them after harvest. This way Ill always have free "seeds" so to speak. Won't need to buy more than one set of seeds unless I want to change strains.

I only have one space for growing as well. Do you have a small closet or cupboard or anything? I take clones right before I switch over to flowering, I have a CFL setup that I use strictly for this in a closet, don't need a whole lot of room. After I am done harvesting I clean out my grow room, then throw the clones under the light and start it all over again.

you need a veg room dude, when you take a cuting you dont get seed , you get a cuting, you then have to replant that cuting right away. you need mone space. and to get more seed you need to have a male plant so you need more space.

So I can't store them without vegging them. I dont really plan to get seeds, I just want to take cuttings from my current plants, store them, and after I harvest, plant the cuttings instead of obtaining seeds to start my next grow. roc, if that's what you do, take cuttings and throw them into another system to veg while you flower your ladies, then you really have 2 spaces for growing lol. But I understand, it's not a full rotating crop really. How long can you keep clones like that, and do you have to pay them the same attention you pay your main space? I was hoping there was a way where I could take the clones, and like freeze them or something. (not really freeze them, but suspend their growth without killing them)

I did an experiment with 2 cutting that i didn't care about a bit ago. took cutting and cut them longer then I normally would have. Wrapped the stems in a damp paper towel, put them in a ziplock (partially closed, so some air could still get in) and threw them in the crisper drawer in the frig. two months later, they still looked like they had just been cut. I cut the ends, dipped them in hormone and they rooted like normal.
hope that helps

I did use my brain and it did work, one of them is growing outside right now. Definately not an ideal situation but I wanted to know if I could transport my strains that way if I moved. Easier to take a couple of cutting than all of my moms.

but why wait and take the chance take on clone, prune it so it stays small then when you want it to grow stop cutting it

like i said, its not ideal. i did it as an experiment, and i'm only growing it out to make sure its not more prone to diseases or something.
i only posted to let the OP know it was possible. the way you suggest is much better no arguements there. Its definatley not how I grow my plants, but it might help some people out who have space constraints.

Don't they tell you to put like a finger or whatever on ice whenever it gets chopped off in an accident until you can get to the hospital and they can try to sew it back on? Just saying......
