Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a MAU5-V111 (x8 COB) setup for a 3x3 Gorilla tent. Is this a wise choice for an area this size? I was planning on all 3500k.. Would it benefit to mix? Also, I was going to mount them in a 3x2x3 config. Thoughts?? Thank you!! :)

8 cobs at 1400 mA should be great. Make sure to get the dimmer. I'm doing 8 in a 3x4' space and it is working well, but I have to keep it at least 18'' above to keep them from getting stressed. Good luck man. :weed:

....well

Perhaps I dont? Haha.. That's why i'm throwing it out there.. This would be my 1st foray into LED lighting and my first grow in about a decade. My old setup was a 600w HPS in a 4x2 space which i ran for years. Is running x8 cobs too much? Dimmer?
Your can always dim down, whereas more light requires more COBS

i'm using 8 for 3x3 it's actually perfect. colas are almost the size of water bottles on my goji og

Do a square pattern with 10 inch spacing. i put 5 plants in that space and the middle one has good sized colas too.

do you post pics? I'm growing them for the 1st run out of pack of 11 seeds, maybe you don't have a good pheno? i have one that looks pretty sad as well, as if it's stuck in week 6 of flowering and the pistils won't retract and buds aren't getting any bigger. Other than that they all look pretty good. Not as frosty as my chernobyl but the buds are huge.

I don't post pics yet maybe in the future
A common theme I am finding is only the strongest phenos do well under cob lighting my pheno was from a small selection

you must have misunderstood me. I was talking about a loss of efficiency as the amperage rises. of course the overall light output rises as amperage rises, but the LED gets hotter and looses efficiency.
I edited crees data a bit. have a look. and compare 1000mA and 2000ma and consider that you can drive the led at about 35°C at 1A while 2A would heat it up to about 55°C(estimated guess from experience).

What the hell are you talking about? You wouldn't lose lumens, you'd gain them, even though they mean absolutely nothing collectively, PPFD is way more important, and my efficiency is 50%. You tell me the PPFD of one of your lights driven at a lower amperage and I'll show you how you're not outdoing one of mine. 89w for the PPFD of a 400-600w HPS.

How do you figure driving the same light at a lower amperage is better than driving it at a higher one when you still get 50% efficiency? Especially when that efficiency puts your electric cost at a little more than a 60w incandescent light bulb? 89w isn't really all that important, considering the power.
