I run my cobs bare and works great so far. As far as 2 drivers into 1 plug I'm not sure but I went to home depot and got a 2ft ext cord with 3 plugs and just zip tied it to the frame, I've posted pics in this thread of it. Depending on how hard you run the cobs 4 kits might be to much I run 2 kits in my 4x3 and it's more than plenty

Yes, you can add as many drivers to ONE PLUG as your heart desires as long as you don't go over your breakers/walls load capacity which is most likely 15 amps.

No more code needed.....

yes it does, new cob prices filter through to all kit offerings, we just dropped the codes because everyone selling here now seems to just set base pricing, so dont want to confuse customers when they price check

HI Mark,

Is there any instruction how to wire this way?

also i would like to know if 1 power cord wire attache to 2 drivers so that 1 power outlet to be saved?
You can just use a twin potentiometer, google up "dual channel potentiometer"

Should I put the plastic diffusers over the COBs?
Are they mainly for moisture protection?
I'd hate to cut down on PPFD.
Anything wrong with running bare COBs?
I bought all the diffusers for mine, but now i'm going to take them all out.
I think it might trap some heat in the gap between the COB and diffuser.

Has anyone suplemented their mau5 IV with any other leds or other smaller fixtures? Any experiences or recomendations you would care to share?
I did a DIY version of the Mau5 kit before they came out with the kit. I added 24 Deep Red, 24 IR, and 15 Far Red, along with 4-3590's at 1400mA. I use the DR to increase health, IR for trichrome development, and the FR to put them to sleep quickly. All do their job well. peace

Hey Mark, hope all is good man. Could you please tell me which are the the most efficient 660nm and 730nm reds you have available at the moment please? Also if you have a budget option with decent efficiency, that would be great as well. Thank you for your time Mark.

I'd like to know that too. My next project will be to make a 730nm far-red and 660nm supplement bar (like a Powerbar but for plants).
I was able to do the mau5 kit no problem with growmau5's videos and help from here, but this is a little bit more advanced; like taking the next step.
Reading the first 10 pages of the far-red-thread I thought I was on an electricians forum! ("you would never suspect that everyone at this school is a professional dancer!").
Hopefully I'll be able to piece the knowledge together and do some simple soldering.

I think the trick is to make sure all of the components match up correctly i.e. the right driver with the right wattage and amperage etc.

It'd be good just to have a simple laundry list of parts that go together, like a growmau5 kit for 730nm and 660nm diodes!!...

Just a heads up to DIY'ers out there.
I made the mistake of not getting the wago 5 channel connectors. Here's a before and after after i ebay'd some.
And yes! cutter do sell them! For my next batch I'd be planning everything out exactly before i make a purchase.

It's an ecosunlite with all cree leds. 3 cxb3070's and then 6 pcbs

with 6red,6 deep red, 2 royal blue, and 2 3000k white xp-e's.
Get ready for this...

This couldn't be mimicked by mixing say 4-6 3070s with half cool and half warm light?
Are your supplements in colors that the 3070 cant produce or just not enough?
Would it be better to get 3070s that are in the middle of the cct spectrum and then supplement or mix warm/cold 3070s (and sup)?
(i think) I know that far red is used to trigger hormones that tell the plant its time to flower, and i think the blue is to reduce stretching and help veg growth? Do you have all running at once or are they timed?

Is the deep red based on that study where it reduced pest infestation by 50%, and how much trichome production do you notice with the IR? far red is to trigger flower hormones correct? You run these an hr or so after lights out? What's the difference between a 3590 and 3070?

Thanks for your help so far Im litterally taking notes here guys, this is an insane amount of knowledge to retain and im new to indoor.

Ah young GrassHoppa.

Cobs are full spectrum WHITE COBS. They very in different CCTS (kelvins). The reds and blues are monochromatic single mono diodes.(SMD) these are specific colors within the visible light spectrum. As blue is 435NanoMeters. Red is 630-660. Far red is also used as trigger, yes. For about 10-30 minutes after or just before lights go out and are 730nm.
