Looking super happy! Must be nothing like my hot and dry setup! Haha.
Ya the ladies are starting to pull thru but it definitely put a hurting on em and shocked em for a bit unfortunately I can't use this run for a comparison to what I normally pull from my boxes. I think you'll like scrogin just make sure to flip them at about 75% full net or they'll get away from you

Getting along pretty well with mine! Heat is a huge problem for me in the summer, even with the LEDs, so I'm just vegging and practicing my first scrog (2nd grow).

I'm not too sure how much light is suggested for vegging but im dimmed all the way to 70watts from the wall. I plan to rebuild my light soon with a sealed design so I can move air across it and out like a typical HID. I was a bit naive when it came to leds and heat generation, I think a cooled light separate from the tent environment will help greatly.

Why is there a heatsink in the middle for no reason?

My 1st grow was 28 cuttings of this same plant(money maker) in a (SOG), so my thought/goal with this scrog was to fill the same area with 1 plant and a much better light.

My first go, earlier this year:

I pull mine thru the net for a lot of the stretch otherwise they will get to tall on you and start flopping over later on. I try to keep em 8 inches or so to prevent that but you could use a net to help hold em up

I have what may be a very basic question about dimming, but I'm quite new to this and still learning....
Do modern dimmers lower amperage in any way? I read that rheostats work by actually turning the current on and off thousands of times per second and cutting the edges off of the sine waveform, but not actually modifying the current in any way. I can't seem to find a straight answer

The reason I ask is because of the COB efficiency video that growmau5 did where he outlines the various combinations of current and # of COBS i.e.
4 COBs @ 1400ma = 56% efficiency vs
5 COBs @ 1050ma = 60% efficiency vs
8 COBs @ 700ma = 65% efficiency

So for practical purposes, instead of having to initially buy a 1400ma driver, and then another 700ma driver later on when adding more COBs to gain efficiency, could one simply dim down a 1400ma driver by 50% to approximate the efficiency of a 700ma driver without having to actually purchase an entirely new driver?

someone correct me if wrong, but you can get a 1400 and then later just double your cobs, run them in parallel with the first group and you'll get 700ma current per string. If all cobs run in series, they will all see the 1400ma. In parallel the current is divided between the two strings if they're an equal load. Kirchoffs law.

You will not get anymore power though.....a 250watt driver is 250watts(example), whether you're running 4 cobs or 8. with more, they may be running more efficiently.....but I don't think you're gaining much :?

Depends on how many cobs are in this "first group".

it doesn't not matter how many, as long as they're even(I mentioned doubling) and the supplied voltage is adequate.
in parallel strings for every led you add the current halves, so the voltage will remain, correct in your comment that this also applies to series strings, so two series strings paralleled will the halve the current of the series string ie 1400ma will become 700ma and watts are unaffected, watts what ever you have is all you have

constant voltage drivers like the HLG185H-36B, HLG240H-36B, HLG320H-36B etc will do what you want, you can add any number of cobs and the current is split amongst them equally. the dimmers on just about any driver just send a signal to the driver to reduce current internally, you arent pasing the entirety of the power thru the dimmer or anything

Did cutter discontinue the CUTANDROLL discount?
seems to be an issue with customers, as of today I will remove the discount code and adjust our prices to a net figure. I think given other suppliers selling kits here dont use codes, I am probably only confusing my pricing for comparison sake
