i have a 50litre /14 gallon res and i have 6 plants in it ... i keep half my roots in water and was curious as to how deep u keep yours and has anyone tried keeping only like an inch or 2 of there roots in water so most the roots have good oxygen ?

In all my past DWC grows, (all of which have been super successful) I almost always have 100% of the roots including the bottoms of the plants in my bucket basket completely submerged. When it comes to Oxygenating your plants and roots, the smallest amount of fresh air will keep your roots and plants healthy. I achieve this by simply using an air pump with hoses going down into my bucket. I also find that the amount of water being used up by multiple plant resevoirs is so much, that putting less water in may very well dehydrate your root porn and plants. I hope this helps you. :)

Small, when I set up my 18 gallon roughneck I put in 10 gallons and made a mark, then 12 gallons and made another mark. I keep the water level between the two marks at all times, this does have the vast majority of the roots in the water...90%? I run one two outlet air pump with two stones and let them take care of the 02. I have found that the less water there is in the res the harder it is to maintain the ph, do I have science behind that? No. It is the main issue with my aerogarden, as the plants get larger and there are more roots in the water adjusting the ph is almost a daily thing. Good luck.

I keep mine as close to the bottom of the net pot I can,you will see when they get big how much water they use,my plants are in there 5th week of flower and they are useing a gallon per plant per day,so if I were to miss a day they would be almost dry,and also your nutes can become concentrated from the water take up.also to make things easy get a 1/2 barbed 90 and a foot of 1/2 clear hose and a 1/2 rubber gromet and install yourself a gauge I marked mine at 1 gal. marks this makes mixing nutes easy when you know how many gals you need to add good luck
