there is not a exact amount of jar fullness needed to cure all you are trying to do is basicly slow the drying process to bring your herb down to about 15% moisture level. after its dried (hopefully not to much or too fast) you are using the sealed jar to stop it from over drying to quickly. the first you put it in the jar check it withen a few hours make sure its not too wet if its soggy take it out to dry wait a day try aging if its a little more moist its fine keep the lid off the jar for around a half hour cap it aging and repeat daily> i try not to over handel the buds so its best not to pack a jar too tight. thats all you can say cause who knows how dense your buds are I usua,,y have ! de stemmed manicured ounce per jar if not for fit for precise accounting> i have had ounces of purple bubba kush fit in a 1 quart mason jar too htey were super dense kushballs > rule of thumb never go more than 3 wuarts full. for info on this look at mzjills guide to harvest and curing in subcools oldschool organics forum he has a sticky on this which i am not savoy enough to link you to. DO NOT put trimmings in your jar with bud. think of harvesting, triming,manicureing and cure as trying to remove moisture chlorophyll plant matter from your medacine slowly and steady to normalize the moisture content of the bud kind of reaching an equilibrium.for my trimmings i use brown paper grocery style bags left open and mixed enough so all the trim dries nicely then i roll it closed and usually freeze it before i turn it into honey oil.
