Curing in jars question

I've been curing my bud in jars for about 1 week. Even after 12 hours of being sealed up, the buds are still really dry with grassy/hay smell. Should I keep them sealed up for more than 12 hours or what? When will that bad smell go away?

it could take 3 weeks to cure. if the stems are snaping seal them up and check them in another week. and then another week. should get better.

they were flushed for a little over a week...will this smell go away after more curing? and would adding just cut stems to the alreadyr curing bud be a good way to add some moisture to really dry buds?

I cure mine in 1 gal jars. I open them everyday for a few minutes to let fresh air in. It usually takes anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks before they start to really cure and get that kickass smell back.

that flush may be a little light. if you want to add moisture back I would use a small peice of orange peel. you don't want much moisture in them. you pobley don't need to add anything just let them go sealed in the jars.

I do the same thing. I also start my curing before the stems snap, while they are dry but slightly bendy. The strain is also an important factor in the smell/flavor. I've grown different strains together and certain ones would knock you on your ass while the others had different smells. Flushing is important especially if you use heavy chemical ferts. The more organic, the better the flavor imo.

how long did u let them dry before u put them in jars. chances are they werent smelling like hay unitl u locked em up. that means they werent dry enough to be burped and ur getting methane smell because theres moisture.

take them back out for a few more days and the smeell shuld dissappate. then return them to the jars and coninute to burp them twice a day.

PEACE

I'm pretty sure they dried long enough, maybe even too long. They dried for about a week then I put them in jars. They feel like hteyre almost too dry...if it still smells grassy, do you think I should still take them out of the jars for a little bit and then put them back in? theyve been curing for about a week

so if the stem snaps i should leave them 4 a week instead of opening daily

My last go left me with 3 jar's each came off about a week apart the last jar is working on three weeks and still has just a bit of hay smell the other two truned very sweet. figure about a week on the last one and it will be the same. I just check the last one it has been sealed for 17-19 days.

gotta throw my .02 out. some strains have that fresh cut hay smell becuz they are a plant with lots of clorophyll. just like actual hay. the smell will go away, with time. i have seen weed take a 2 month cure, but the finished product was some dank ass weed. if your weed is ever too dry, don't use orange peels, take some actual marijuana (fan) leaves and seal em together, for 1 day. don't get all complicated about the burping schedule. after a week, i open, blow in the jar and tell the weed i love it. its seems to work great. if curing seems too complicated, then just smoke it til its gone!
