Good day all!
I have cured some lemonskunk from greenhouse and it smells fantastic, you just want to take a bite from it. But when i roll a joint it taste not the same as the smell. I also have another strain and there it is just the other way. Mediocre smell and a fabulous taste.
Why is that?

Its cured from September in glass jars, no problems encountered etc.

Happy holidays! ( If the world doesnt end before that, in that case, it was nice to know you :D )

I dried it in 7 days , room temp between the 18-23 celcius. Around the 50%rh.
Then i jarred it and let it breath twice a day 15-25 minutes for a week. After the week i did it once a day 20-30 minutes and after 3 weeks once a day for 5-10 minutes.
Since then the frequentie dropped to noow once a week 5 minutes and when i grab a bit for 3 days to smoke.

woa, not sure why either.. that is a decent formula i'd say its the strain, i recently grew nebula but it did the reverse, didn't have much of a smell but the taste was out of this world. werid

your curing is fine, I believe where the problem may lie is with your initial hang & dry of the seven days. While seven days isn't the problem, unless you were dehumidifying the room? 50%rh is good while your plants are still alive and up taking moisture. This is why we add dehumidifiers to the room because they are taking in massive amounts of water and as the buds get thicker and more dense they have strong potential for molds. After you separate the branch from its life line it will start to dry no matter what your rh% is. It eventually will dry out. So there is no more need for a rh% of 50%. I have and have known many people to even add humidifiers to there initial dry hanging period to lengthen this process...keeping a rh of 70%. of course adjusting this to bud density and strain. Bigger budds take longer so you always need to watch for risk of molds. I think your buds MIGHT have over dried during the first seven days. Another source could lie in your final flush and leech. You should always leech out your medium and flush with plain water for at least a full week. You probably know this. Just my two cents bro.

listening to me could make things worse...lol It's like working out at the gym, every guy knows that best plan to get super buff & ripped...right? and every plan is different but always something similar. This works for me.. take my advice with a bit of mistrust...that it might not work for you. Hope this helps :)

Thanks, i think its the drying time . It dried to quick also for my likings, gonna pay more attention the next batch. Different drying place with more fresh air too i think.

Thanks again and a green and good year for 2013.

Well, taste is mostly smell, anyway. Plug your nose and you can barely taste the difference between taking a bite of an apple and a raw potato.

I'd say it just a strain and/or personal taste thing. If it smells nice (no hay or cut grass smell), then it got a nice dry and cure. I don't think there's anything you could have done differently. Molasses near harvest will sweeten your buds a little, next time.

By the way, I've gotta respectfully disagree with the statement in your signature. :)

It is true that resins (trichomes) don't move around from day to night, but it is also a scientific fact that sugars created by photosynthesis during the day are transported to the roots during the dark period. Still may be personal preference, but there absolutely IS a difference between harvesting before the lights come on and after.

Just a thought from what i have experienced. I used to harvest and then trim right then and there most of the big leaves and a lot of the smaller leaves so it looked pretty clean. Then i would hang the buds. I always noticed i got a grassy smell and taste. In later harvests and what i currently do now is cut whole plant then hang it as is leaves and everything for 2-3 days being sure to watch for mold. I find it allows my plant to dry a little slower thus allowing more time for chlorophyll to break down and not get locked into the plant matter. I then strip big fans and other leaves after day 2-3. I have noticed the slower you can dry the plant without creating outside wounds from trimming the better taste and smell and end result. Maybe try it on a plant and see what you think. :peace:

Sometimes the chlorophyl can leave a smell if you seal it instead of paper bagging it. Jar it when its dry but not before then.
