Cure smell question

So i've been doing alot of research and am currently curing my first grow. they dried fairly well, they're in a box 50% humidity, 70F degrees. I'm curing in typical jars and they've been in them only for maybe a week? They smell like hay, which i know is common and should dissipate in time, so i'm not overly concerned there, but the question i have is when i take a small amount out and place it in a small tin, and put it in my pocket for a couple hours, it smells pretty dank, the Hay smell is virtually all gone, and it just looks and feels alot better. I'm wondering what caused it to get so much better, so fast. Was it the heat from being in my pocket? was it a little more humid in there? Was it the fact that the altoids tin isn't airtight and thus had more time to air out completely? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
