Cubing, Preserving Elite Genetic Lines

Many growers ask me to elaborate on the process of cubing a strain.

There are many schools of thought on this one. Many breeders, like A/B Hybe and STP, use STS to reverse a clone and create a stress herm to out-cross with. Or, in Soma’s case, he uses clones that have very late male flowers or naners. I don’t think we can’t do this, because JC and OV get these after day 60 so it’s not magic. And I love Soma but IMO it’s the easy way out. My mom always told me anything worth doing is worth doing correctly. I feel the male is essential in the proper breeding of any hybrid, and when working with 4-6 Elite mothers and fathers from the same genetic pool you get the magic island effect or the Galapagos theory. This is my own, and isolation inter-breeding among special hybrids can crate magic. Look at the amazing colorful birds on isolated islands that did not get a chance to breed with the dull and or ordinary, but instead the extraordinary. Get it?
So simplified, Dank X Dank can make danker.

Lets look at Apollo-13, and I will discuss how to outcross a clone only strain.

Soul claims only 500 of these seeds were ever produced and the owners of the few female cuts to survive are somewhat of a cult. I created some waves when we first used her in a breeding project, but after awhile it was ok. Most of them remembered they didn’t breed her just find her, and I am making her available again to the masses. This strain makes some of the best bubble I have ever tasted.

So what now? I have been growing this same clone for some 8 years and it's so stable it’s crazy. I've never seen a herm flower or any problems. She will shift in and out of bud pretty easy, and is also easy to clone. She ships well to.

I had started some of Nebu’s Black Russian and it gave us Purple Cannabis!

So we now had a Purple plant that I loved; the looks, the flavor, even the buzz in the mornings. Black Russian has scissor goo that looks like grape taffy. The problem is I am known for devastating potency and incredible raised trichomes. Now if you follow us at all you know I think Grimm’s Apollo-13 is the cure-all to lack of potency, and so far I have been absolutely correct. So we took a male using our same criteria with a new twist; we budded all the males out and selected the one with the most purple coloring. We could have a month long discussion on botany and argue if this works or not, or do what we did - make it, grow it out and see what happens.

What happened was amazing!

What we found out is there are two basic phenotypes in SP 1. The first is a pink/purple pheno that is much better than Black Russian. It has a hint of A-13 and a great deal more resin than any of the BR phenotypes. This was about what I expected in the outcross and we ran Pinky several times enjoying every bud. But more so it was just an amazing plant to take pictures of so I kept it around.

You can see these plants on my Purple Reefer Thread

https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/44799-purple-reefer.html

The other phenotype was the big surprise. At about day 30 the White phenotype we nick-named simply "whitey", was forming a much more dense cola and had a smell that reminded me of Fanta Blue Cream Soda. As time went by, say week 6 in 12/12, she started smelling nasty like rotting turkey or something bizarre. Past day 56 she started getting sweet but the weird meat or stale refrigerator smell kinda lingered in the bottom. We jarred it and I didn’t touch it for a few weeks. One morning I was surprised at a sweet/sour smell that was very nice, and that cream soda smell had returned. I smoked a few bowls while answering e-mails and all of the sudden noticed I was extremely high. My peripheral vision was shot and space and time slowed to a crawl.

Later I sent some samples to TOB and she commented that it made her trees seem cartoon like. I knew we had a winner and released it.

This is a strain I recommend a lot to people looking to try out our genetics because it is just really fun smoke that taste really great and works well to relieve nausea. While considered a Sativa hybrid it has remarkable pain relieving aspects which are not as common as in Indica hybrids, Vortex numbs the pain while making you laugh and giggle all while enjoying a light show in the minds eye.

Apollo lovers beware you may be fooled by this new hybrid, I know these pictures look a lot like our mother plant Apollo-13 herself but this is Vortex one of the Top 10 Strains of the Year and the strain I recommend the most to those wanting to try our gear.
Having a smell similar to mangos and cherries but with a faint putrid baby poo under smell. Its very hard to put a description on this slightly fruity yet sour and rotten all at the same time. It has a great eye buzz and the second hit slams you in the skull and says hey your stucking foned.

Some females are extra special, looking almost identical to the mother I have been growing some 12 years now. I knew there was a perfect combo to allow the traits of Apollo to shine through while if not adding something nice from the Space Queen at least putting combo in seed form so others can enjoy the speedy soaring mind buzz of these two elite collector strains. The high is very cerebral and thought provoking as well as slightly motivating. I do a lot of writing and grow room organizing while stoned off my ass on Vortex.
So Vortex was created because even though Sputnik blew people away and Sputnik 2 was even better I knew once I found the Space Queen male I had to start this project over. I could not get Ed to understand that even though I have not been to college this is how knowledge is gained from first hand experience so after making The two Sputnik crosses and having huge success with both I started the project over and created Vortex

Want to see what we created??

Yes Pinky and Whitey are nice but this is serious Uber Dank!

Lets follow from the start shall we?

Well after running through a good deal of my creations I have decided now to proceed with an A-13 BX. I know that Vortex represents the traits I like the most and want to work backwards into the Momma Apollo. This is the outcome of be tracking the data of Sputnik, Sputnik 2.0, Void and Vortex.
So I started 21 seeds in the Quest for a new homie plant and I am happy to report they came up all in 48 hours.

Ok so there are now 20 baby Vortex packed around the walls

Well while all 21 germed in a few days I only set up 20 pots so the one had to go. There happy and now under 1000 watts

Vortex is a strain that represents everything I like about cannabis. It has a very high smokability factor small leafs lots of gooey pistils make the bud burn like candy and not oak leaves like some think leafy weeds.

Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex, Vortex

Yep there all there

Someone on Breedbay had the great Idea to name some plants after members here on the site. I loved the idea and followed suite with the Vortex run I am doing in search of 3 males.

Lets see who were going to be hanging out with over the next few months.
Its our own Breedbay version of Survivor.

Good Morning,
It's time for me to do one of Sub's infamously in depth threads about his favorite subject My gear!

I challange any breeder on these boards to show case 20 of there seeds online with an outcome as good as this one I wish I had time to do this thread on every Cannabis site online.

So now were at day 55 and nearing the end and I am to be honest blown away. I have had rooms of clones not perform as well as these seeds did and in not perfect conditions.

The first 30 days they were budded under a 400 watt light in a cold ass back room. There in smaller 2 gallon square pots and you can see I fryed a few of em trying to get em enough food to finish properly.

The plants are so similar I couldn't not be happier or more sure I have this pollen chunking stuff down to a science.

This is going to take some time there are 85 Pictures.

First up is Pistils @ Dawn one of 3 clones I kept for myself and one tall sativa spear with a heavy A-13 smell

This has that peppery smell of Dynamo or Storm very spicy and peppery.

I didn't know for like 2 years that this spelled Howard backwards Doh!

One of really impressive plants leaning to the Cosmos side and has more of a Sour smell over Pistils while all these smell similar there are slight variations and this plant is more fruity than sour.

Every plant except one is pretty much the same hight and thats the one I transplanted way late compared to the other seedlings

There was a time that I could not be Subcool online as it wasn't wize so I adopted another nick name. The Kanguru this was later made shorter by my close friends and to this day MzJill calls me Ru^ as do my kids

This plant like the others would make a keeper in any garden and the only thing that dosn't allow here to shine more in my garden is her sisters

Ru^ Vortex Pheno

The stoned Ranger is the first deviation in phenotype and wins some serious props for resin production. This phenotype actually reminds me more of 3d but it still has that Apollo-13 smell she is smaller than the others by a good bit both it girth and height.

I am glad I own this clone and its vegging in a large pot and going into the first bud of 2008.

This plant really stands out and was labeled SuperRV and it is indeed super. Much more dense with rock hard bud formations and copious resin.

can you say KEEPER!

Get some coffee roll a joint were going to be at this awhile I got 17 females from 21 seeds and I killed 3 before sexing

We got 1 male plant out of all these seeds.

Bad ass Cannabis plant!
I gave this cutting to someone who ever has it has a really impressive plant IMO.

These pictures are completely untouched BTW I will do some macro later but these were simply resized with zero editing. What you see is what you get.

Cherrys and bananas on this one.

VBsparky

The Bulb is for perspective these are not small plants that is a 1K bulb box

Not sure your Info is correct bro we have donated about 50 packs to meduser for him to give away as how he sees fit.
I dont have time to run contest anymore but Chris who owns and runs Meduser things highly of us and thanks us for all the support.
I don't have a bone to pick with anyone and sent out 20 packs of free seeds just yestarday.
WE donate free seeds to anyone in need so ya might want to slow your roll and check your info.
I speak to meduser on a daily basis and send freebies for him to distribute.

I am pretty use to trolls after 5 years of doing this and I have learned we cant make everyone happy but a few thousand people would disagree about our genetics.
You dont have something more constructive to offer than Trolling?

We done some experimenting with UVB when breeding but my advice is good genetics a good environment and proper attention to detail.
You don't need new methods just hard work
