I would appreciate any comments or advice. I am using a 400 W MH bulb for VEG only tent. 54 square feet. 170 CFM outtake fan for now. temps are about 79 degrees F with the light on. humidity is 28-35% with light on and 60-70% with light off at about 70 degrees F.
Pics are below.

Cheers!

Looks good except the humidity is a little wacky. Are you running any exhaust at night or is the light your only exhaust?

I would normally say to try and raise the humidity for the light cycle, but its gonna be too high at night if you do, unless you got a dehumidifier.

What you should do is start checking the air outside the tent. Thats what I do anyway, because the tent raises humidity as the air goes up through it, its hard to get an accurate reading of what your plants are getting.

Its a good idea to know the conditions of the air thats being pulled in and being used by your plants.

I would clean up all that wiring too. The shit thats leaning on the wall like that, a PC power supply I think? I would screw it to a piece of wood, but you should at least lay it on some wood or something, not just leaning there like that.

I dont know how I feel about the ballast in the bucket. It has its advantages but its disadvantages as well. Your better off placing the ballast up high somewhere, a pair of shelf brackets and a piece of plywood will cost about $5.

Thank you all for your comments and advice. I really appreciate it.

My light and exhaust are on the same timer. So humidity is fine once light is off. I managed to get the humidity to about 30-34% when the light is on. I did this by adding a lens to the hood.

This is a work in progress and some of the setup is temporary until I get new fan tomorrow.

The hole in the ceiling will be finished with a nice cap. I need to find some housing for the ballast. The PC Fan is temp. until my good fan comes in tomorrow.

Cheers!

Everything else looks good man. Are you not keeping the glass on the hood? It will work a LOT better if you keep it in, it will pull more air past the bulb cooling it a lot better, if you keep the glass in the hood and get a proper fan you will be able to keep that light like 4-6 inches from your plants, they will grow a lot bushier with way tighter node spacing if the light is closer.

I just added the hood lens a few hours ago and WOW does it make the difference..This is really the only way to go IMHO.

My temps are about 78 F with light on and 65 F with light off. Humidity is 60% without light and 30% during light cycle.

I would still like to get the humidity up some more during light cycle. I have 1 humidifier in the tent and 1 humidifier in the ambient room.
I am thinking of using both humidifiers in the ambient room and see what happens. Will try that tomorrow.

Without the glass lens, the outtake fan was sucking all the humidity out of the tent. Now some is contained.

Thanks.
