when there is literally nothing @Hybridway believes that he actually would agree with. It's a bond based solely on disliking the same people. This place is super weird.
"super weird" is still an understatement, but, it seems you're catching up and adjusting fast for a 'new' member. You tag me out of dislike, get liked by one of my biggest fans, yet you pretend you understand me, that I dislike you, and that you're any less weird than this place... That's not weird, that's as typical for this place ironic on a comical level. Almost as funny as all the obvious sock puppets. Your bonding observation, one I obviously frequently make, is highly misplaced and would be far more appropriate to direct towards yourself and other members in my fan club.

I do agree with hybridway that it was unfair that he got on slomo mode. I don't agree with his dozen or so posts I read about having to run cobs harder for more penetration, as I posted in another thread. I agree/disagree with posts based on their contents not the dislike emotions you project on to me.

turtlemode was very appropriate, perhaps you didn't see all the ranting posts he made when the tantrum went off.

Sometimes stoners just need to chill out and smoke a bowl. Instead of being banned.

something you could learn when you go off in one of your diatribes.

If people would just try straying from popular efficiency belief, more actually grew pot rather then argue over growing pot, then they would easily have made a 1000w DE replacement w/ the COBs they have now.
Crank up your COB.
Why not?
1) you'll yield allot more then you save on your punk ass electric bill
2) COBs will actually have penetration, even if you spread them a mile apart. (W/lens)
3) Who gives a shit If the efficacy is dropped to 1-3 years, your replacing it in 6 months anyways due to technology up-grade. Wouldn't you rather get the most out of your cob now, before its rendered (old, out of style)
I agree about why make these lights to last 5-10 years. Instead, why not make these lights actual 600-1000watt HPS replacements that can actually grow mad pot.
Orrrrrr, you can keep being sooooo efficient, in the mean time bitching & moaning about how your new LED light you bought or built can't grow like your friends HPS.
So many here never even used HPS, DE or any of the big hitters but all want to replace them. I don't get it. I know what these lamps can do, that is why I have much higher standards for my LED then so many i see that just want a 600-800 PPFD on the top of their canopy but absolutely nothing 6"-1' below said canopy.
Then they post of bunch of pictures of bud tops only saying: whatchu mean Willis?, look at my bud tops! LMFAO! Get real.

Math is great until it costs you $10,000 less on your harvest cuz you thought efficiency on your bill is all that mattered. Ha! It's all good, after all, you did save $20 on your bill trying to replace 1000DE with 1/2 powered cobs spread 1' apart.
It's all good though. You do you n I'll do me.
Oh gosh who let the troll out?!

He's not a troll, seriously. He just doesn't understand that "1/2 powered cobs spaced 1' apart" is combining two meaningless metrics (in this context) to make a third even less meaningful one.

"1/2 powered"...is not how things things work. Watt ratings are maximum amounts, and how much power you can safely apply to an led is only tangentially interesting insofar as it means more dies, better thermal resistance, and better efficiency. The bottom line with any fixture is how much light it makes with the power you are giving it.

"Spaced 1' apart"...who cares about spacing? Like, at all. Whatever is appropriate.

Here comes the only important bit:

A troll would understand that the "1/2 powered cobs spaced 1' apart" are throwing down ~1400 PPFD over that square foot, and come up with a way to troll that makes sense.

There's no point in playing the "I'm a real grower" card when you are in a conversation that has nothing to do with growing, and everything to do with the (really basic) nuts and bolts of how substance divided by area works, whether it's chickens per acre or clowns per rodeo.

That's enough explaining, for like, ever. Maybe that wiki was a good idea.

You mean God forbid a grower has something to say. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg Although I am not a super nerd, I am a grower whom is interested in lighting. It is a much bigger factor them many give credit.
Often I see posts that do not make sense from a growers perspective but these equations seem to monopolize this section by many that do not even grow. No offense to those whom actually apply them to real life scenarios.
With that said, I will politely bow out. It's sad that a grower cannot have an opinion here when this is supposed to apply to growing.
There are plenty of smarter real growers then me here, so I'll leave these conversations up to them.
I just don't understand why any point of veiw that doesn't come from a data sheet isn't considered? Nobody even tells me why all my ideas are so shitty. All I get is hit with more links to misinterpreted scientific data.
All good though. Peace!

I like the idea of high powered cobs theses guys all just want to be the smartest guy in the forum so they throw numbers around. until someone tries a full grow with high powered cobs they can't really say your wromg

Er, you mean like @nevergoodenuf ? The guy I mentioned when you asked me for heat sink advice about the CLU0550?

I must have forgotten calling you stupid for asking about high powered cobs. Or forgotten all the times I've heard other people called stupid for wanting to run them. All these imaginary people shouting down anybody daring to even breathe a word about running over 25W. This place is worse than Nazi Germany.

Thank you!
These cobs are getting replaced in less then a year anyways. May as well use them for their intended job, n replace them w/ new tech later.
Your yields will be your reward.
Allot more then the punk-ass$50 it costs to replace them.

By high powered i mean over 2A and over 200w per cob if you know of a grow like this link it to me I would love to read it. I've read alot on these forums nothing over 100w per cob from what I've read but I haven't read everything so I'm probably wrong

Being wrong isn't the problem, being an asshole is. Save that for when you are right. Again, @nevergoodenuf . Awesome grower, awesome lights...just click on his name.

You mean like this cute thing I threw together when I didn't have the heat sink I wanted? (250 watts)@Ryante55 I haven't ran anything UNDER 100 watts in months ( except a Vero test control plant). Check out my grow, it's in my sig. I am a horrible grower, but still have great results for my mistakes.IMG_20160703_120304412.jpg IMG_20160703_120315843.jpg

Or even just run your existing 3590's @ 100 watts. The light company I prefer to use is doing this & still standing behind a 5 year warranty. If they can do it, I don't see why a DIY'r can't when they replace their cobs every time the newest, baddest cob or tech comes out anyways?
But I am shunned for suggesting it?
I brought this up in an led vs. HPS intensity thread that shows a huge drop in led under the canopy. The high powered LEDs did not have much drop nor did the HPS. But I'm an idiot right?
Everyone complains about the drop. I come up with a POSSIBLE solution & I'm dogged by guys that don't even grow. That's why I bugged. Not because I am right or wrong but because NG's talk mad shit to people trying to contribute to bigger buds & larger yields.
I don't get it, why????
So underpowered, underlit tents can be promoted in order to sell lights for vendors?
I don't know but that's what it seams like seeing how the guys saying I'm so stupid appear to be hype men, not growers or smart people.

Now, that's what the heck I've been talking about!
Wicked nice. We are on the same page.
I'll be following your threads from now on to learn more about led for my garden.
I'm not even a DIY'r but your work makes me wanna be.

You remind me of that time my friend took too much acid and got stuck in a loop... just saying the same three sentences over and over again in sequence lol.

no your being shunned because you threw a hissy fit, instead of trying to understand what multiple people tried so hard to tell you.

Light from multiple sources is ADDITIVE. Simple 1 plus 1 equals 2. Two cobs running at 50 watts produces more light than One cob at 100 watts because of higher efficiency at lower currents. Try to understand that, stop bitching and acting like an idiot.
