Crazy plant stretching

So I've been on flowering mod for about 2 weeks now. My 4 plants are about 2-3 months old(ish) and they have some major stretching going on. This was my first grow so I used the wrong lighting at first. I now switched over to cfl and my newly planted babies are looking great. Now for my original plants though...I'm assuming when they produce bud they will topple over so here's what I'm thinking. Could I basically use the cloning steps to bring the leaves closer to the ground? Meaning...I have about 5" of foliage...so I cut the plant right before the fan leaves and then re-pot in individual containers...rather than 4 in 1. Then maybe go back to a 24/7 setup until they grow appropriately and then start flowering again..? Is this even possible?

Dont cut the plant , your in a good time to top the plant . You might end up w/4 buds on top!... Then if its to heavy hold it up w/stakes.
should use a fan early on to make stems stronger,Just dont use toomuch fan ,start slow ...real slow ,,, then build up very gradually.

You could always try repotting it and burying part of the stem below the first node. This will effectively make the main stalk shorter, and hopefully sturdier.
