Coughing badly

Title says it pretty much...... getting to where i im coughing uncontrollably after 2 or three hits.. joints or glass pipe. the coughing is so bad that most of the time i end up bent over the toilet puking ...... this happen to any of yall ? nothing wrong with the weed either.....started bout a month ago

Medical attention needed or take smaller hits.

Do you frequently suffer heart burn? If so, this may be a situation irritated by smoking but responsible because of reflux. If you have had issues with heart burn or reflux, see a doctor. Coughing and vomiting violently can be symptoms, and you'd be much better off on a ppi. I speak from experience, and am currently undergoing surgeries to repair the damage done by my lack of treatment. Don't wait, and if that's not the problem, stop smoking for a little while. Your body will thank you in the long run...

Vaporize, or start trying to use edibles more often, if not solely... But, I'd definately go see the doctor first off to make sure everything's ok with the throat and lungs.... Good luck...

ENT time. May not help, but try ice chips first. My throat is "delicate" and I hate it because once I start coughing my intake is over for awhile. He's going to tell you to stop smoking...everything. Good luck with this.

umm wow. i do suffer heart badly and take prilosec. damn every one of ya says see the doc.. aint go no no money for one but i just might go any way. ever get that gut feeling somthing just isnt right ? i do and i got it now.......

Listen to GrnMn. I have been in medicine 34 years. Go to an ER. Let them send you the bills. So long as you attempt to pay the balance and haven't signed a payment plan they can't report you to credit agencies. Do not lie to the doctor about the pot.

aint been to a doc sense i was bout 8 or 9 and 32 now. i do want a vape tho.

Well I strongly suggest you break a tradition and go. An ER visit. They will X-Ray you there and CT/MRI if needed. Go to the local public (or better yet teaching) hospital. Go to the Business Office after the ER and tell them you're broke. Not a new story to them. If it's the teaching/university med center you can probably go do everything on a payment plan or even free. Again do not lie about the pot and be sure to tell how the coughing starts. No doc or lawyer can do anything for you if they don't know the truth. They won't judge. Fuck 'em if they do. Esophageal cancer can be cured fairly easily if caught early.

BTW do you smoke tobacco?

100% on this. I stayed away from doctors for years because VA is a pain, and I worked but didn't make enough to buy insurance. By the time I went and reported problems I was sent to specialists. I have scarring and inflammation of the larynx, esophagus, multiple ulcers, and precancerous cells (heard the term Barrit's esophagus). I'm now on 40mg omeprazole twice daily. Since starting this medication, I've had NO heartburn or reflux, nausea and vomiting are all but gone, no more blood, voice is coming back, cough is almost gone.... reflux sucks, and guys generally just eat tums like candy rather than say there's a problem. Get seen, get help, and you'll feel much better in the long run. Apply for medicaid if possible, if not, go to the ER like Harley suggested. I wish you the best, and hope you feel better soon!!!

They thought I had Barrett's after an EGD. I too suffered heartburn deluxe but a lot was from years of eating NSAIDS for pain control from a broken back. I was on Nexxium 2 years! That's usually a 6-month run, possibly a second. So I laid off the NSAIDS and just smoke anymore. Docs are so scared of the DEA most won't prescribe true pain meds. I've pissed dirty 3 times over the years (4 counting for Harley Davidson Corp) because most docs are too scared of the DEA to prescribe medical marijuana. Bunch of fucking shit. Oh yeah - Harley nailed me with a fucking hair test!

Let me state here - I do not go to work altered. I do not approve of people that do. We have patients lives and health in our hands. If I strongly, with good reason, suspect somebody is coming to work altered on any substance I will report them immediately as suspicious. Medicine is NOT a playground and assholes will not be tolerated coming to work where I know about if they have taken a single hit.

Gotta love it brother. I'd been pot free for a few years and finally said fuck it. I'm smoking now, it's actually why I stopped vomiting blood (nausea gone just like that). The meds are helping, and I'm not smoking much, but I'm sick and tired, and I've decided that feeling better is better than feeling worse. Fuck the job if they don't like it; I know more than half of my subordinates use, but I'll hold to the 'don't ask, don't tell' attitude. Docs have said that pot has probably helped more than anything they could prescribe, but can't say that and have to go with the pharma option. Life was easier when I didn't have to worry about all this political correctness bs....

I used to smoke 1-2 packs of cigs a day and even small bong hits used to slay me. Not quite where you're at with the barfing but tons of coughing and feeling like shit because of it. Used to regularly cough up dark brown goo too. I quit a long time ago, these days I can't cough on a bong hit if I tried. Much healthier overall, much better breathing and lots more money in my wallet too. I used the patch and the gum at the same time.

Get a hand held vape, also if it continues go get a lung xray, my gf had flu for a week or so and could not smoke. I bought her a vape on amazon for 100 bucks and now it is the only thing she will use. I like the smoke but can tell you the vape works

ok ok ok obviously i needed this thread because i caught a cold(wife works at a college), we always get something around this time of year so i thought nothing of it. TWO weeks later i CANNOT hit my pipe without hacking is a betetr term not coughing, for fucks sake had i realized that these people had this much medical experiance i woulda thrown a shout out about this when i first joined here. Feels as if the cold settled into my lungs but i smoked (like an idiot) throughout the whole cold (helps me sleep i am bi-polar/ptsd/and suffer from public paranoia) so now i find myself with half my lung capacity, luckily i have insurance but i am scared to death of hospitals i have no idea why either fucken needles and the smell drive me into a panic attack for some odd reason. so it seems an chest x-ray is in order. Is there any way to tell if there's serious damage to our lungs before an x-ray? like symptoms? Ive smoked off and on since i was 16 and am 38 now, wow knew this day would come! nocigs and all i do is puff my cannabis! Op thankyou for hitting on a excellent topic!

I stopped mixing tobacco in my joints I stopped coughing, Also you may want to do some exercise, a little jog a day keeps the doctor away (an apple too)

Also when I smoke in a pipe I tend to cough, try joints it's easier to take smaller hits.
