cotton mouth

I am new to the forum and this will sound a bit strange but I am wanting information on how to grow the worst case of cotton mouth passable.

I am a 56 year old disabled male suffering from a severe sinus problem causing continuous sinus drainage and pressure. The side effects are nausea, diarrhea and at times vomiting . I have went through 2 excruciating operations and now take more Sudafed than the law allows giving only minimal relief.
The only thing that gives real relief however short is a bad case of cotton mouth.

Unfortunately I live in a state that has the worst prohibition. Although they have been a bit lax lately on enforcement. It is passable in this state to get 2 years for a joint.

At this time I have no grow room. This is soon to change as I have 2 grow lights and a room to grow in.

I'm no doctor, but curious if you may have cannabis allergies, the most common symptoms are runny nose, sinus pressure, periods of stuffiness followed by clearing, watery eyes. I've researched it as definitely experience reactions. Curious if it's the trigger, and if you're feeling best during the drying/clearing part, which is usually a couple hours after use. Everything mentioned happens right after use and lasts for and hour or so.

You should move to a med state. Safer and faster paths to quality stuff. Otherwise, get reading one of the many books on the topic. Good luck!

Hi how are you doing? I dont know if you smoke cigarettes but they do that to me, most of why I quit finally. A shot of vinegar can help settle the stomach churning, the wife does it all the time and swears by it. Ginger tea made from grated ginger is great for sinuses issues. On to your original question, I find that a Indica heavy strain for me drys me right out, but my favorite is a 60/40 hybrid gets the best of both worlds for me. With the number of strians available I would go to Leafly dot com and plug in your symtoms and see which strains pop up for it. Keep us posted and if you need some help feel free to ask.

Nothing caused by cannabis allergies and only somewhat affected by seasonal allergies.
I smoked cannabis through my teens in the 70s and quit for 30 years due to my job. Only started again after retiring 3 years ago.

My sinuses were several damaged in a motorcycle wreck in76 causing the first of several surgeries. I do suffer from seasonal allergies but the underlying problem is from damage in the sinus cavities. I have been to many specialist, surgeons, allergist, GP, eye ear nose throat and so on. Over the years during the time I was not smoking only finding minimal relief at great cost from the medical profession. I do not smoke tobacco and run a full time grow room carbon filters in the house as an air filter to help with dust.

Unfortunately living in a backward prohibitionist state I have very little choice in what I smoke. The quality is poor and the price is high. This is why I have chosen to set up my own grow room.
I am up for suggestions. At this stage in life the high is not important. I just want to treat the symptoms of sinus and pain caused from a broken neck and back compounded by neuropathy and nerve damage.

The progress on the room will be slow but I will get there.

I found this strain that I want to try called "Anesthesia". Leafly reviews say that it is great for pain and muscle spasms. I suffer from back pain so that is the one I am looking to grow. Also, I heard Northern Lights is good for pain too.

Thank you for the reply. I have tried northern lights and found it to be excellent. As of now I haven’t cracked a seed. Damn disabilities. Work on the room is slow but progressing.

Like most patrons here I'm far from a diagnostician. Here is my nonprofessional observation if you follow modern Western medicine.

I can tell you that sudafed (pseudoephedrine) will not help you with sinus drainage. For short bursts,7 days or less, it will help with sinus pressure. Therapy duration longer than this will cause rebound congestion and dependence on pseudoephedrine or another sympathomimetic to produce regular clear passage. This rebound congestion leads to ENT surgery to ream (clean) the sinus cavity.

The issue with drainage requires an antihistamine or anticholinergic therapy. This could be benadryl (diphenhydramine) or atropine drops, respectively.

Of course there is always 'cottonmouth' as well.

I suffer from sinus problems. Bad. Do you use a humidifier? I se a cool air one. It helps a lot.

As far as cotton mouth it seems for me the pure sativas do it.

yeah i have dry sinus's too but most affected when RH < 30. I use a warm air humidifier, seems to work better for me. kind of a PITA but...

I was going to comment about repeated use of Sudafed, but he's been to enough docs i'm sure this was covered

As I age I find I'm growing more and more for medical reasons. Hang in there, the rewards can be great and very satisfying. I like knowing my herb aint been touched with and pesticides and other crap... Keep in mind growing herb ia like running a marathon... Long time till you get to the finish line...
