Hey bro,

I am in a similar situation as you except I am buying a house, not renting an apartment. Well anyways, I have been planning for about a month now, and have put together a fairly good list of equipment needed and the expected cost of the equipment. I did do alot of research on the prices so they should be somewhat accurate. Hopefully this helps you out a little bit. And remember this setup is, what i believe, the best setup for my grow space, living area, funds, etc. etc. Yours might be different.

I have already decided to go with Nirvana's Wonder Woman instead of G-13 Kush's. But that's about it. Let me know what you think.

This looks like a good list of shit - with pretty accurate pricing... the only thing i see thats maybe a little low is the inline fans/carbon filter...

basically your setup needs 3 6" inline fans and a carbon filter...

not sure what kind of fans filters you priced out... but the carbon filters i use are the can 33 or 66 i think... they have 30+ lbs of carbon in them... i can get them for around $200 each. the fans though are a pain in the ass.. i just bought 2 6" fans in the last couple months... 1 was the Eco Plus (vortex style inline) - it was in the $150 range... and the other one i got was an S&P inline... which i think works pretty well... i wouldnt hook that one up to a carbon filter though... but it was also in the $150 range... better 6" fans are between $200 and $250 though...

im thinking you may have priced out the 6" inline duct "booster" fan... which doesn't work by itself at all... i think those may be $30 at casa de POT... but they wont pull through a carbon filter for shit, and if you put them in a duct by themselves, they will only move 10-20CFM... they suck (when they should blow!)...

also- the the OP... you got the ballasts already? you say you only want to spend a grand on the setup, and out of the box you drop 40% on light bulbs... but the REAL cost of a good HID setup includes ducting and a fan... because you cant run them alone. also, if you are on a budget, scrap the MH and HPS bulbs... just get the hortilux eye and use that through-out... you will need the $200 from those MH bulbs for when your plants get hungry.

keep on keepin' on.

I have three of the Valueline 6" inlines (425CFM) and they all work great.

They're like $70 or $80 a piece from businesslights.com.

yeah -those would work... thats basically what the cheap one i got was... but it was a little more than that...

i got them at my local hydro shop - kinda need it quickly.

either way, 3 fans and a filter for $310 is a little low for budget...

im growing in a apartment for now till i get back into my house and if you got it set up right you shouldnt have a problem ,, im runnin 2 400w and 1 400 in veg room ,, i cant smell nothing coming out of the carbin filter and even use it to heat the apartment .. if the power company calls just say u got electric heaters hooked up !! its completly air tight ,, if your exhaust fan is turned up to high you will smell it , the particles are being sucked though to quick !! + you will lose your humidity .. I buy all my gear new and for this closet grow i spent 1400 to 1500 ,,, if you want to do it cheap find lighting from warehouses for like 40 bucks and ill show you how to wire it to run at 120v and to remove the socket from the ballest

Shit i would just high ball it, because i know almost everyone has gone over there budget!!!!!!!

I Built my flower room before i found this site, so once i found it things changed around in there(for the better) makes it easy on me now no more stressing.

Then i built my veg room just more money bla hahaha but i have a veg room wooo hooo

Seeing others and talking to theres then getting new ideas on new lines of nutes blablablablablablabla theres always going to be somthing new you might want to try so its always going to be adding up every month/year with more money into the op.

But to just get started i would just go with the minimum 3 grand but wait lmao how big is your room i would say around 3grand for 2x2 or 4x4 ......... if you go up to a 6x6 and up you can easily go up to 5 grand and on $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ its all about the money to start up but in the long run shit the money your saving is going to be worth it!!!!!!! :bigjoint:

Take some rips sit back and think how much money do you have to spend to get medicated and then how much will it to be, to start this grow op and keep it going. You will be saving money with in three years, if not faster.

:leaf:LOVE THE MORNING RIPS LMAO bongsmilie:leaf:

well, now hearing all this im considering dropping around 3G's into this and hoping the grow room will pay for itself within the first or second harvest. Im only going to take about a half O to an O for personal. im not as heavy of a smoker as i used to be, just with this shitty economy moneys got to be made

I have over 5k in my room and that is only one 400w mh, 600w mh, 2 600w hps lights, but that also includes framing materials new electrical service and a wall heater. But those materials were a small part of the buget

I budgeted about $2,500 and am well over $6K right now, and I haven't even started flowering yet.

Trust me, the unforeseen stuff and all the "little" stuff (trips to Home Depot and Walmart) really, really add up.

I'd recommend at least 1/3 of your budget be for unexpected expenses, i.e., if you're budgeting for $3K, you need to throw in at least an additional $1K for the unknown.

i dont get why all you guys are saying everything has to cost so much...

1000 watt mh/hps..400 including s&h (http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=48982)

pro mix..13 bucks

buckets to make hempy buckets with..50 bucks.

nutes..60 bucks

fans/ducting etc..100 (home depot and etc has some good fans you can retro fit)

ozone generator..250 (http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=46239)

got some dank seeds from a friend for free.

all for less then 1000.

id veg for about 2 months. do a lot of lst and training. get some nice bushes. flower a nice indica dominant hybrid for 8-9 weeks. you should get about a pound. round here that goes for 6400. 400 a zone all the way up.

so you figure you spend about 1000 to get started..and about 4 months worth of electric. prolly be about another 1000 tops..topppps. so 2000 to make 6400. should be all good. then you gotta figure in rent etc. but w.e.

Man i like the way you think lol. im shooting for about a pound then when the second harvest rolls around im putting near about every cent back into the room and going for a nice high yield =p. Theres no way ima be getting 400 a zone though unless this shit gives a happy ending lol.. (im hoping it will =p)

This shit aint cheap. You cant just run to Home Depot and throw some grow room up in a day for less than a G. You could, but it wont be as efficient if he spent the time and money wisely. D.SAINT - You said you can spend more than your $1,000 budget? Spend the extra money and do it right the first time. Your going to live in an apartment where there are people who live on nearly every side of you. Be smart about what you do, and how much noise and smell your room makes. DONT SACRIFICE QUALITY FOR SPEED. I've always said that, stood by it, and it has never done me wrong.

2k is quite abit in an appartment.... if ur this serious about it, research... fail to plan, plan to fail...
Fail to plan, Plan to fail, Thats a good quote. I am very serious about this. A little skeptical because of the consequences but if its gona be done, its gona be done right. Im just trying to make a good hustle and stay high while doing it.

Someone mentioned a hortex eye, its supposedly somthing like a Mh light and hps light combined. has anyone had any experience with this? Would i be better off getting a few of them or just staying old fashionn

Growing in a apartment on this level is usually not such a good idea. You have to take into consideration if the circuits in the apartment can handle it. I planned my small 600W personal grow and it came out to a little more then 1500.

Maybe you should think about starting small with one light, then renting a house. Houses are a lot safer then apartments since the only thing you usually have to deal with are landlords, while houses you also have to worry about other tenants, and have stuff that is even more out of your control. You also have more power to play around with in houses.

It is hard to see this set up being less then 1k, unless you sacrifice things, which you might pay for later. My recommendation is to not to skimp out on smell reduction. Unless you want to stink up your entire apartment and have the 5-0 pounding on your door.

Well stay safe and watch out for the 5-0.

well, Maby i should just start off with the house.. That would mean having to move my girlfriend in with me (Fuck my life..) but i defentally see that being alot more legit and having more room to experiment. The police pounding on the door dosn't sound good either, id rather spend all my money and have nothing to show for it then for that to happen.. hate police.
