Cooltube Question

Hey, I have a 400w mh/hps digital ballast with cooltube in a 6x3x3 tent. My question is, will a 250 cfm blower and carbon filter kit directed outside emit most of the heat from the light? Or in other words, if my room is 25c will the addition of the blower and filter kit keep the temps at 25 or 26c? Currently My temps rise about 4 or 5 c with just a standing fan directed at the open tube and out the side flap. I have since added portable air conditioner and can maintain any temp but am concerned of the costs.

if its piped properly, pulling from outside the tent and exhausting outside the tent then it will stay cool, I can touch mine with my hand no issues

thanks for reply weedx, so do I need separate fan and piping for the cooltube as I want to run the carbon filter and it only has one outlet.

I have similar equipment with less cfm (4" 172 cfm) and smaller space 2 X 3 X 10. I see a 6 degree temp difference from outside the room. Every setup is going to be different so it's hard to predict your results.

Heat from the light should be mostly eliminated with that amount of cfms and 400w. I know I can put my hand right up to the glass and not feel any heat. Oh, and I run the fan at 50% to keep the noise level down. Suprising ho rushing air through a tube generates noise.

This is how I've ran mine for years. I have a 190cfm inline. Sucks air up from the bottom, hits the carbon filter cools light and is exhausted out.

Yes it will, but you need to keep in mind the length of the exhaust duct. And keep in mind the CFM rating on your carbon filter. The longer the duct the more the CFM will drop, the more CFM running through your cool tube the cooler it will be.

thats the ideal setup IMO, however if you dont wanna bother mr2shim's setup is the best way to go

*edit* keep in mind where I live has a 95f average so it could be overkill. . . .
