Cooking Oil THC extraction question

So my buddy has a friend who has a bunch of "hash oil" as they call it. Most of the people who picked up some only used it for cooking only, but wasn't sure if it was infused with any kind of cooking oil. Now my questions is - if the oil happens to be infused cooking oil, is there a way i can extract the goodness out of the oil? I want to extract the goodies from the cooking oil to smoke as its my personal preference :)

Depends on what kind of oil it is suspended in. If it has a higher vaporization temperature than the cannabis oil, you can fractionate it off by vaporizing it at the lower temperature. I demonstrated that by soaking a rolling paper in cannabis oil infused almond oil and placing it in a retort type vaporizer, that I made from a couple quartz lamps and a test tube. The almond oil remained behind and cannabis vapors were easily distilled off.

Ok i see what you mean...Now i would think that because its infused, when extracting cannabis oil from the cooking oil, you would lose a significant amount overall. May not even be worth it?

You wouldn't get it all for sure, as it will have formed some azeotropes with the other hydrocarbons present. On the other hand, how much does it take to soak a rolling paper?
