Continual Slime in DWC

I've done the same thing with thinking all was good after a few doses of bleach, switched back to bennies and poof, back again. I'm thinking that this run is going to be a sterile res till the end, when it's over (if they survive) I will nuke everything and see if I go back to beneficials or stick with bleach or H2O2. It's nice to be able to get info from others that use bleach, another highly controversial subject lol.
Are you in RDWC?

Yes...I have told that to people in the past. If your res temp is always creeping it won't hurt to start it out at 60F.
Creeping res temps aren't a bad thing. Mine wander as much as 6 degrees F during a 24 hour period; coolest at end of lights out, warmest at end of lights on, water gets cold every day to knock down anaerobic, water warms up every day to boost plant metabolism.

Creeping res temps are not a bad thing as long as it don't creep over 70F. That's when algae and other organics start to grow and the level of cal/mag is increased resulting in lockout.

All this summer my res temps would indeed rise into the seventies during the day, then drop back into the upper sixties at night.

My biggest problem was trying to manage the explosive growth. Roots? No problem!

Hey there I'm new to RIU I have a 3 week old female from seed in Dwc with a 5gallon per minute air pump and 2x 120cm flexible air diffusers joined and made into a spiral to cover whole bottom of the bucket. Most of the roots are healthy but the ones deep enough to be in the water are taking on a orange tint? I'm using canna vega a+b cyco silica cyco uptake and was going to use cyco ryzofuel the root booster but I added it at the start and it caused mega foam build up? Any input would be great

Go sterile and drop the ryzofuel. Use the ryzo as a foliar if you wanna keep it in the mix. To keep things clean, i use HTH pool shock shock n swim,
Level 3 shock. Non ph buffered. Mix 1.0gr pool shock to 1 gallon water. Use the pool shock solution at 3 to 5ml per gallon in your rez. Use with every feeding. You can use this solution at higher doses, like 5ml or 7ml/gal if you have some foam build up to get rid of. Daily dosing can be done as well, 1ml per gal. Always dilute the solution in more water before adding it to a rez with roots in it. Example...if you have a 5gal bucket and need to add shock, put 15ml shock in a meassuring container of your choice, dilute with 150ml of water and slowly poor into your rez, dont just put the pool shock solution staight in the res, dilute the pool shock to 10% befor adding to rez. If yiu dont dilute your dosing you can cause some unwater root shock....slow growth or strange growing structure.

image.jpeg image.jpeg ^^^^ have you tried hydroguard? The nasty rot I had was incurable lol. I tried everything to get rid of it and really the only things that seem to help was lower res temps and started to use hydroguard. Not sure if what I tried would have helped in conjunction with the lower temps but I gotta say the roots are much better and plants (all six) may live. First pic is today, second pic was two weeks ago.

Lower water temps are the cure.

cycle the mister water pump, that heats shit up a lot.
Great white for the rot, I got a touch of the slime in one unchilled res, great white straightened it right out.

I do cycle sprayers and actually just ordered a cycle timer control to add to the control box. And yes I hear good things about great white but hear it's real pricey, and as tty says, temps seem to be the most critical thing for healthy root x.

you know whats cheaper than hydro guard.. just buying bacilius spores in bulk powder form... That is all that is in those jugs of water you are buying.
Yep. Standard rule of thumb is that if you can find it in a 'hydro store', you can find it cheaper elsewhere. The places are built on price fixing and marketing collusion by the closed shop of distributors, profiting by fleecing their intentionally misinformed customer base.

That you can find the occasional exception to this rule does not make it any less valid.

Not everyone wants to deal with spores in bulk powder form... Spores in lungs = no good. Some would rather spend the extra, not me personally, but I can see why buying beneficial bacteria and fungi spores might be intimidating to some. Or for some unhealthy patients might not even be an option.

I only grow inside for 8 months then the Tourists start coming back and there's just to many people around. I head to the swamp and get eatin by bugs lol.
