Consuming Solvent-Less

Hey all!

I've been super into BHO for about 8 months now and am actually wanting to move away from it and start using good fullmelt solventless.

I've tried several offerings from Essential Extracts, Riverrock, and others. I also found an awesome tutorial on screen melts from the Colorado bud blog, thanks for that!

I don't currently have an e-nail or even a dome-less Ti right now for that matter. I've been using hot hit wands or my Worm noodle to do dabs for a while now, much better flavor a lower temps, etc. Pretty much use the noodle for full temp, wand gives more controlled flavor dabs. ANYWAY...

I've tried several ways of consuming the fullmelt, mostly with Ti screens. I've tried "heat pancaking it" and using it loose. I've melted on the SSV oil kit which is a pain in the ass, I've used the wand to melt the shit without touching it, and with touching it. I've used the wand without a screen, just put a pancake in the bottom of the concentrate bowl and atom smashed it, or just without pancaking and just briefly wand the loose stuff like it was some budder.

I guess the main question/problem I'm having is this. There seems to be two phases to the melt. The shit that bubbles and domes tastes pretty good, but doesn't give off much smoke or get me that high and doesn't last very long. The shit that starts to smoke if I leave the screen on the SSV nail or if I hit it extra hard with the hot hit wand, smokes much more, is more harsh, and actually gets me ripped. It's almost like the difference between a full temp and low temp dab.

Sorry for the ranting, I'm still noob to all this despite consuming tons of it, lol. Basically... If i gently bubble it on the screen some black/brown is left over that no longer bubbles but smokes plenty if heat is still applied. The best result seems to be if I apply direct heat to the whole thing and let it smoke till the black nasty taste appears.

I personally like to put clean ashes in a clean pipe (standard glass)

Take about a dab of micro-planed hash and place in center of bowl.

Herb iron would be great here, but I'm broke so I use a Bic lighter..

I do like you, hovering the flame well above the hash to get that melty, bubbly heavenly taste..but, in the same hit, put the flame to it after the bubbling stops and rip the left bit.

This gives you that wonderful taste from the low temp bubbling and the cannabinoids applying more heat.

One hit though!

Ok... I mean, I figured as long as it's still smoking, I should still get goodies out of it. I just never see people smoke the residue on videos and shit, they only show the melts.

The low temp dabs avoid vaping off all the waxes in your product, all the cannabanoids have a lower boiling point than those waxes and that is why after a certain point it tastes like you are smoking that "duff" (already vaporized product) if you know what I mean.

As for the effect. I agree that it seems like you don't get that cloudier high when low temping, to me it feels like a cleaner high, I just smoke more if it doesn't hit me hard lol.

Yea, I've experimented a lot with low temp bho... SSV, Nails/Caps, The Noodle, hot hit wands, Healthstone, etc. Out of all of it, the best flavor and control comes from the wand, it's almost like a combo of low and full temp dabbing cuz you can get the best flavor, plus you can milk a 2' bong with shatter without choking to death and it tastes better than if you capped it, although higher temp noodle dabs def get you more stoned...

But on the subject of solvent-less, I know that first post was all over the place, lol....

My current set up is limited. I'm considering expanding to e-nail or getting an Embur. Leaning Embur because it's cheaper and I wont have to add a nail to my $1000 piece and worry about busting it. Also sort of waiting to see what Hive comes out with, they have a portable ceramic heater listed on the site as coming soon.

That said, still open to the enail. The chick at Illusions showed me an infinity would fit nicely in this weird recessed 14m female joint (I don't know the term for it but I know there is one) It's an Illadelph recycler in case you wanna Google to see what I'm talking about.

So anyway, I've been using a boro wand like it was an Embur. And I've found basically 3 ways to hit the solvent-less... I'ma make some video today and post here.

Thanks for any input on what I'm doing and what I'm doing wrong, lol. Suggestions are awesome....

First, I have a Ti screen on top of a hot hit slide. I either pancake the fullmelt or just throw it on there loose. Pancaking yields a lil better results but the loose works just fine too, sill bubbles and domes nicely...

My experiments and findings so far, lol...

• Hover the wand above the screen.
  
  • Bubbles and domes and "soaks" into the screen, actually drips thru the screen into the hot hit slide sometimes.
    
  • Super terped flavor, tastes like the strain smells. Reminds me of low temp shatter, that "sharp" flavor you get.
    
  • Smooth, lite, vapor like hit.
    
  • Low intensity, short, high, even after many hits. No "stoned" feeling.
• After hovering, I'm left with some brown gooish inside the screen and some black residue.
  • I can re-heat my wand, and apply direct heat to this left over stuff.
  • Bad taste. Huge, harsh hit.
  • More stoney, longer lasting high when doing this
  • Leaves a small amount of black residue on the screen and stuck to the wand. Residue no longer smokes.

• Smash the shit with the hot wand directly on the screen
  • Semi-harsh, milky hit.
  • Tastes almost like smoking a bowl of flower
  • Good high, lasts a lil longer, more stoney.
  • Very little residue left of screen.
  • Small amount of residue stuck to the wand, no longer smokes.

• Let it melt and bubble a lil then smash with wand in one hit
  
  • About the same as just smashing it from the get-go

Questions...

I'm hoping the Embur gets hot enough to melt by hovering BUT also get the stuff I'm having to apply direct heat to get smoking. That I think would be ideal?

If not, anyone know if I'll be able to apply direct heat with an Embur? And what sort of result that will get?

Am I better off skipping the Embur and using an infinity nail(ideally with an enail)?

Suggestions and/or need to know info on enails? Looking at Perfect Temp and D-Nail so far.

What sort of risk is involved with that when it comes to harming my piece? Esp considering the weird joint on it(can't find a good pic online, will post later).

Anyone have any info on the new heater from Hive? Is that gonna be like an Embur? Or perhaps a heat coil for their ceramic nails?

No info on those hive electrics yet. I agree about a 3 hole bowl and wand for flavor wish I knew more glass blowers that made more of them.

I have a Dnail in house and a torchless unit on the way very soon. I will get back to you on my opinion. The embers and handheld wands I am looking to get my hands on for testing, should be cool.

That reminds me. I saw an add for some torch-less heater wand from White Rhino in HT a while back, months ago now. And I still can't find ANY info online about it. Looked like a dabpen but with a battery heated Ti tip. Interested in more info on that.
