Considering the switch!?

Those mars/bestva, etc. epistar junkers will work but aren't really much of an upgrade as the inefficient diodes throw off enough heat to negate much of the benefits of LEDs over HID bulbs. Arrays of top bin samsung diodes are a safe bet, and are made by HLG and several others.

Options.

Air cool your existing light.

or

Get 480w ish of LEDs, boards or strips or cobs. Nothing from amazon.

You could buy two of these and get drivers separately
https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/quantum-boards/products/qb288-v2-slate-2-double-combo

Or you could go full DIY if you wanted to save some coin, check out LEDgardener if you want to go that route.

Im glad I changed over to LED but the cost is not for everyone and neither is DIY.

Id get a mars ts1000, less heat, better spectrum, 600 watts in that tent is, dont take it wrong, but dumb. 35 watts is needs for LED per foot for pretty good yield. Your using 70% to many watts of power,

Tellin ya, if you get get an LED, get one and toss that HPS to the side.

Haha, no don't bother with mars. Mars lights are grow toys for children. Stick with HIDs until you can afford a decent, quality LED light. A 'good' mars light is like a shiny turd. Yes it's the shiniest, best turd, but it's still shitty.

Mono boards, yes, like Mars300, i agree, but the new boards, are just fine for small spaces. Ive seen grows, they are just as good as some of the SMD boards out. Light doenst make the grow great, whether user using top shelve or not. He got 6 oz out a 600hps, which is horrible, So evidently he has major heat issues, or isnt growing correctly to be just wasting electric on literally nothing in return.

Hey, i dont give 8 fks, use 2 hps's for all i care, lol. but a 600w hps in a shoe box is dumb and a safty hazard at that. Heck, i use freakin 200 watts in a 3x4 area, and its rockin

Had a lot of issues with heat etc so that determined the shit results, the tent i believe is 60x60x120
Haha tight for space bro, think I'm gona stay hps, haven't heard enough good points on LED
I think environment should always be considered. Some people run LED in the summer and HPS in the winter.
You could run half the watts and make half the heat with LED. In addition, the plants love 30C/86F air temperature under LED.
Leaf temps run around 1C under ambient with LED. With HPS, the IR rises leaf temps a few degrees.

Optimum humidity is also higher under LED so the dehumidifier or AC can run less.

Ya godda watch out for the exaggerated watt's claims like the other post said it's what the light is pulling from the plug that counts.. I've been running a HLG 550 V2 3000k for a few runs in flower I like it. It runs a lot cooler, nugs are nice and dense.

For veg I'm using 2 - 280 V2's 3500k and 4000k they do a awesome job..
Could you explain why use those spectrums only for veg and not flower?

If you still want to change up your lighting for an improvement I would look at just buying the new Eye hortilux 600watt CHPS bulb.

I much prefer my bestva 3000 (600w at wall). For what I need, it produces fabulous smoke, wonderful buds, and no heat issues at all... I run a 3x3 scrog, and it is perfect on a budget. They are limited, and many better lights, but for what I need, and the results I get, i have no use for more. Compared to my hps light of the past, the bestva is night and day for temp control, and as a result of environmental control, I actually grow more, better quality with the bestva....
I have not done indoor for 10 years, and only had one grow at that time. The LEDs just make things much easier for me. My scrog is adjusted to 3x3 now (4x4) initial setup in picture. I got 700grams from that harvest, so just over 1g/true what. I am more than happy, and no need to improve. Potency is intense, and popcorn/trim provides 12 batches of butter...

So...
I grow 2 plants. In DWC, bubble buckets, 3 gallon buckets. In a 2 foot by 2 1/2 feet by 7 feet tall tent. With a 250 watt LED. And good genetics, high quality seeds are important.
I have fairly good success. IMG-3888.JPG
