Well done NORML you guys are lucky, I'm in the UK but I reckon if it gets legalized in the States then we have a good chance to get it legalized over here! FINGERS CROSSED!!

if it's legalized in the staes, it will absolutely get legalized in europe.... the united states is the only country that is REALLY PUSHING the war of drugs, and it's all behind closed doors, our government uses it for everything... i just did a paper on how the United States fuels and is the only thing holding the war on drugs together.

As much as I would LOVE to see this happen, IMHO it never will. I say this for 2 reasons.
1: If the U.S. gov't legalized/decriminalized the use, posession, or sale of marijuana, they would be admitting they were wrong funding the marijuana specific portions of the "Just Say No" campaign. Can you think of one instance where the U.S. gov't admitted they were wrong?(Bill Clinton's apology for slavery notwithstanding)
2: The courts here in America have absolutely nothing to do with justice. They're profit centers. The lost revenue in the form of fines and NA/ASAP fees alone would be enough to kill the dream of legalization forever.

Well it would be the states choice by the look of it, so there would be non-pot and pot states lol sound like something else ?

Action Alert
House of Representatives to Consider Cannabis Decriminalization!
Tell Your Representative to Support H.R. 5843! NORML is pleased to report that H.R. 5843, an "Act to Remove Federal Penalties for Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults," has been inroduced in the House of Representatives by Representatives Barney Frank and Ron Paul.

This measure, if passed, would strip the federal government of its authority to arrest responsible adult cannabis consumers. NORML founder and Legal Director Keith Stroup worked extensively with Frank’s staff to write this important legislation, which represents the first cannabis decriminalization measure introduced in Congress in 24 years.

Under current federal law, the penalty for cannabis possession is up to one year imprisonment and a $1,000 fine.

Please take a moment today to write your Representative and urge him to support this important legislation. For your convenience, a prewritten letter will be sent to your Representative when you enter your zip code below.

Thanks for supporting NORML’s efforts to reform marijuana laws in the United States.

These Republic assholes down in Texas would never go for this bill.

Isn't Ron Paul still a senator still in Texas? At least you got one. i do think this should have waited till the election, cause this is political madness doing it now. but maybe that's what there hoping to get it pushed through in a time like this cause there might not be that many people in the house to vote on it right now and the ones that are, are for it (one can hope anyway).

i think he said even if it gets shot down in this administration he will resubmit it after the election. as far as i know obama is the only one who has admitted to inhaling, and also to doing coke. (and been accused of selling it, but if you do coke, you probly sell it too)

not a political endorsement but just something i thought was relevant

with the election coming up i don't really see it going anywhere. i hope your right that it will get resubmitted if i doesn't get passed. hopefully we won't have to submit it

NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws has legislators phone numbers, snail mail addys and several links set up on their site where all you have to do is click....I think there's one specifically for sending an email to your state and local representatives and senators. Click the "Email" link and with one more click, you can send a pre-authored letter urging the politicos to vote yes to the decriminalization of marijuana. NORML.org Do it TODAY!! Peace out!
