If you have a computer repair shop around or know someone with an old junker, take the power supply out with the wire harness and plug your fans into it. That's what I am going to be doing. I have a few multi speed 80mm fans that I will be using. Good luck!

yeah power supply units for pc's can be picked up very cheap and old ones will still use the same conectors for the fans (molex) they have red yellow and black wires. or you can use a universal adapter strip the + and - wires down and attach them to the red and black wires of your pc fan and set it to 12v or 5v depending on what fan you have.

i run my 12v comp fan off of an old cellphone charger. u can check the voltage right on the back of the charger and then just strip the wires. or u might find a 12v wall adapter.

yeh just use cell phone chargers and comp fans the fans range from 3.5 to 9volts the 3.5 volt fan are good flow and you can run two fans from onecharger done it for years and no fires touch wood!!

Do you have to modify the power supply to be able to use it out side of the PC. I have two and cant seem to get my fans to work. Im wondering if their broken or what.

If I were you I would just go to your local thrift store and get some 12v adapters that fit your needs. It cost me $1.45 today and I got an AC adapter than outputs 12v @ 850mA, good enough for my (2) 120mm fans running at 12v 300mA. Just wire them and you are set.
