Comey made one bad choice in an attempt to seem "unbiased", he didn't drop investigations at the bequest of the President.
Comey told someone else; it was agreed they wouldn't tell others so the investigation wouldn't be tainted.
Seems to me Trump knows wrong has been done and he's trying to save his own skin.
