So West Maui Mountains is turning out to be a beautiful place, So what type of area should we look for here to grow our Jilly:weed:

Lot's of direct sunlight. South facing hillside. Near water so you don't have to haul water forever. Preferably a stream. Stagnant water will sometimes hold harmful bacteria... At least 6 hours of direct light but that would hardly do a sativa justice. In a perfect world you are looking for dirt that is DARK and is what some would call LOAM. Loam is full of goodies already, it drains well, but doesn't dry out in a matter of hours.

It does look like a nice spot Leaf, would anybody have any suggestions as a means of wind protection or should we move on to a different spot to check? :D

Late last night I received confirmation that our seed is on the way!!!! I choose The Attitudes guaranteed shipping so we wont have to worry about not getting her :)

I think we should put the jilly in a valley as wide out in the open as possible. The hills will protect from excessive wind and she'll get plenty of sunlight.

Regardless of color, shouldn't she like ANY of the volcano enriched soil?

I like the place that I circled in the pic below... what do you all think?
edit: it is the west Maui mountains
Looks good, but you can't be sure how much fog, if any might blow off the water in the mornings, and air temp coming off the water is something to think about as well.

I'm so happy...I'm growing Jillybean right now! LOL -- 3.5 weeks in...NOT in Hawaii. Indoor grow. But hopefully I'll learn a lot from the discussion here!

Thread subbed...

Chucky was nice enough to Volunteer to make us a greenhouse :D.
Was hoping the seed would come today but forgot it was sunday :wall:

If we choose to use the volcanic ash as a medium would we need anything else to add to it?

Good thought, but wind tends to roll off hills and pick up speed, while bringing colder air with it.
