Never had spruce might be a red meat. Flushed a bunch in Montana. Ruffed is the best, twice flavor of chicken.
I'd recommend grouse pot pie or if you have ruffed, just roast like a chicken. Baste in butter.
Also nice shot to BF, the way it should be.

Spruce is Very similar to Ruffed. Hard to tell the difference sometimes in ME. They're just as plentiful as ruffed so I dont know why you cant shot em.

Maybe some "pot pot pie".

I have never made a savoury weed butter dish. Thinking coconut thai soup FOR SURE.

I bet cinammon buns would be yummy as fuck too. And maybe butter chicken?

You really have to lick the bowl if it was in the sauce though...hmmmm....it would be worth it!

Just the geographical location. Think we have a more conservative season on spruce. More common up north.
I love grouse.
