Tonight I will unbox the colorado grow box (aka dope box) the LED version. This is the newest model offered (the 2017). I will detail the items that come with it, overall condition of box, fan set up, ease of setup, odor moderators, etc. This is a reputable company so I have high hopes. Fyi, I purchased the SOIL version, 4 ft tall. Ultimately, I want to examine if this box is as good as a tent.

So far: I received the package(s) today. As usual, it came in two boxes...one with the box and another containing the light. Shipping weight combined was about 40 pounds. It seemed pretty sturdy. I'll unbox tonight and post pictures!

<3 and grow smart.

Disclaimer: I am not being paid by this company or any other. I did not receive any discount or freebies for performing this service to the RIU community. I'm an experienced grower outdoors. However, a novice when it comes to indoor. My goal is to examine if a tent is a better option. Another goal is to assess the quality, viability and capabilities of the box. All comments are welcome, as long as they adhere to the RIU forum rules.

Thanks and love

So glad you are willing to take one for the team... but...
The only measurement I see is 48 inches... and that's height (being important to canopy)
but what size is actual tent... 3x3 - 4x4 - 1x1 it's really distracting graphics and hard to tell.

Now I DO like the way they mount and hang their CFLs and filed it away if I need it in the future.

Negative sir. Since you're a well known member what do I do if pictures are too large in size to post? I've read some posts where noobies to the forum (like myself) have ran into problems posting the pics they take. I can't locate any details about size limitation of photos bring posted. Any advice before I get started?

Personal preference, if you upload many for one posted message, use thumbnails and only insert full size images where you want to point out something specific in the photo.

Unless you are doing a step by step thread, then I'd check out some of the other DIY narrations, most have a slideshow strip following whatever they want to say...

Ok it was minimal in setup. No instructions even needed. Very intuitive in my opinion because this is my first attempt with a box and it took less than 2 mins to assemble. A few minor inconveniences to deal with but nothing major as no additional repairs or alterations are needed.

1st inconvenience: slight damage to box from delivery in bottom corner(left side). Doesn't impact light leak. Delivered the box and it looked like it went through hell in delivery. All things considered, it is no whoopie.

2nd inconvenience: the power strip provided is the EXACT length needed to reach an outlet. It had to be assembled exactly in the picture on the website found on the website. It also is equipped with two nail latches to attach onto two screws above the fan. Problem is his screws are ever so slightly off. Took some jamming and prying to secure it. It is incredibly sturdy, though.

3rd inconvenience: the exhaust fan on the back towards the top needed to be 1mm higher. The light touches the bottom of the fan preventing the LED from hanging perfectly even. Not a concern though.

The mirror Mylar is truly amazing. Very well installed with a professional appearance and application. No crumpled areas. No areas left exposed. Very nice feature. Something I did not appreciate until I clicked the button on the power supply. It's fantastically bright.

Closing the door, no light leak. Except where the power cord comes out at the top to hook into the wall. No biggie. After duct taping there is no light leaking. Overall everything fits beautifully and seems to be ready to go.

One thing I both love and worry about.

The fans are oversized and I am very impressed with and LOVE the amount and speed that air is moved into and out of the box(even with the carbon filters installed). My WORRY though is odor. I've read and discovered with some outdoor growing that the more still a plant is the less it will sink. You know, you walk up to your girl and you're thinking doesn't smell that bad! After some touching and squeezing though, that movement generates so much stink. My understanding though is with a box or tent it's MEGA important to get some major airflow to promote a healthy living condition for her. The odor question Will be answered in time. Any ideas for rigging some sort of additional odor proofing or external system to link the fans to?

Measurements, pictures, and some other fun stuff tomorrow. Seeking input on recommended soil pots? Air pots? Wtf are those? Also pictures of the care package I got from great lakes genetics.

Again, pics and stuff posting tomorrow evening.
