Just a natural part of the decomposition process that happens when a plant is no longer alive. Storing it in a cold environment will help retain color longer.

Isn’t that color change part of curing?

I’ve only grown 14 strains but I’d say 1/3 turned golden after 4+ months in a jar.

I think you need better jars. Mine don't ever look like that. Even if it's over a year. C Vault's are supposed to be really good for long term and I've been hearing really good things about Grove bags too. I get some browning or gold color but never quite that drastic.

I wouldn't recommend C Vaults. I have 4 big ones and none of them are air tight. Bovedas and buckets with gamma lids is a better idea. I've been wanting to try Grove Bags too.

That's good to hear. I only know one person that actually has one and they really like it. The online reviews are always hard to trust. It's hard to do the buckets and gamma lids if you're not storing bigger amounts of the same strain though I'd think. Guys like me that only grow three or four plants would probably do better with some QP and P sized Grove bags for different strains. I do know I've outgrown mason jars. I just can't deal with the # of jars around anymore.

Mines just regular mason jars with boveda packs. I always assumed it was based on curing and the individual strains but maybe it was jarred up too soon or something like people have said. I’m definitely not experienced enough to say for myself.

still smokes and smells great though so all good.

I just looked a bud from two winters ago, and it's finally starting to turn golden. It is bone dry from being in a jar without a Boveda pack though.
