Ok, maybe I've gone a little bit OTT, but What would 8000 - 10000k be more beneficial for? I would assume it to be ok for flowering, more than vegging.... But I AM very new to growing my own. Anyone with suggestions/info would be most welcome to aide me in my ongoing reserch. For information purposes.... I am using led's as my main light source, and things are going ok, but there is ALWAYS room or improovement :) Thanks in advance, and keep smilin'.

What is the name for applying heat to the bud in an oven, which changes the color? Kids did it in the past, and sold the enhanced bud for more money. I know this will enhance the effect of the bud. They say the effect lasts for about 5 to 6 hours. Using a vacuum pump and a vaporizer, setting the temp to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, on the vaporizer, and letting the glass tube, with bud inside get up to 120 to 130 degrees. I found that this enhancement becomes locked into the bud, and doesn't go away. Like they condense orange juice, temperature and a vacuum.
Oh and the darker the green the bud is the more potent the enhancement becomes.

stealth, you must have misinterpreted this thread. Color temperature describes the color of light a light bulb produces. 5700-6500 seems to be pretty good for all around growth I have found. I am not familiar with the practice you have described.

Gro-lux bulbs are rated at 7600k and they are fan-fuckingtastic for growing. They are T5 floro's however, but they work great for vegging. There are MH bulbs that are made for aquariums that have a shit ton of blue in them and if you look at the spectral analysis some will have a lot more 460nm blue in them and that is ideal. They will work really nice if you get the right one but keep the wattage low because you don't need a high watt bulb for vegging. The higher the K scale the more compact and dark green your shit will grow. The K scale is almost pointless for horticulture because plants don't see colors. That scale is more for the architectural lighting department and the human eye. Not all 10k bulbs are made the same for example. Pretty much all HID lighting sucks and plants have to really adapt to them and that's why it's recommended to always introduce your plants slowly to HID's because they all suck. Once the plants adapt they will usually take off. The ideal wavelengths for growing terrestrial plants are about 10% 420nm, 20% 460nm, 10% 630nm, 60% 660nm -700nm, and minimal everything else in between those wavelengths. Those wavelengths are key for photosynthesis and the closer you can get your lights to those wavelengths the better your shit will be. PEACE
