Coffee Filter Evaporation

I am doing my first concentrate. I filtered the bud out of the everclear and now I am evaporating the alcohol (sitting method, no fire). I have it covered with a paper coffee filter. Is that too thick? I have it in a warm but dusty place so I need to have it covered. Just started it last night.

not too thick, but needs very good ventilation
to prevent fire and all that

Thanks. Yeah, I have it in an unused room so it is dark and warm. No heat or electric sources. Just dusty.

if you use a reptile heater or just put it above your pc or tv thats warm it will dry faster.but yea its a little bit less safe

I use a coffee filter if I'm letting it just evap at room temp but if I run a fan over the top of the cup I'll use nothing and then filter the oil after it's reduced to catch any dust or airborne crap that might have gotten in. As others have mentioned, air flow/ventilation is important. I like to do it on the oven top so the exhaust fan can take care of the vapors.

Thats a terrible idea evaporating inside your living area, a bit less safe is an understatement.
if it was a glass of alchohol i would agree but its just the coffie filter. even if it catches on fire if you put it on a metal tray it will be safe

I like to make sure that people reading these posts dont do it in general incase they didnt catch the part where it said very small amount. I get where you're coming from I mean if its just a tiny bit fine. Just making sure other people in the future reading this post dont misunderstand and blow themselves up.

I switched to cheesecloth. Ran to the grocery this morning and picked some up. It has evaporated a bit but I think I will put a fan near it to increase the airflow. There is venting to outside but airflow in the room is pretty low.
