coco mold!!!

So I fluffed up a two bales of coco about a week ago, added 20% perlite place it into pots (actually gro bags)

the pots have been sitting for about a week now, and the coco was staying wet.

a couple of days ago it started to dry out.

there are no plants in the pots, and no plants growing at all around.

Tonight the pots (bags) all have a blue fuzz that has formed on top of the pots and on the drainage holes.

It resembles dryerlint, but also very spider webby (BUT NOT SPIDER WEBS)
NO BUgs in sight at all.

It is deffintly some kind of a mold type deal.

I am freaking out because this is $80 worth of coco, and its only half of it.

Whats up with my coco, it seems it only happened because it was beggining to dry out.

Can someone please enlighten me, or help!!!

Thanks

I found this thread.

International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - mold in coco?

A few of the guys there say it is a fungi/mold that occurs naturally on top of coco that gets no air circulation and is exposed to cold night temps.

which makes alot of sense considering my ventialtion setip isnt in place and its in my basement and temps go down to 65degrees at night.

HMMM i am still worried though that this is in some way bad.

there is no way it is salt buildup, as the coco has never seen nutes, and got fluffed up and flushed using distilled water.

i've never had that type of ordeal...

however, when i've pump lemon juice thru my system to lower the ph. my coco started turning colors...i blame it on the lemon juice because that is the only time it happened.

what kinda coco are you using? some people say not to let the coco dry out, treat it like a hydro setup and others say treat it like soil. i think that determines

I was reading that it could be fine just left alone.

seeing as how its only light and barely on the surface of all the coco and the drainage holes and seems to have gone away when I watered the pots,

I am thinking it is related to bad air flow (since ventilation isnt set up yet), and the drying out of the coco.

I read its a harmless mold and wont affect it in any way at all.

Was very hard finding anything about this at all, especially related to coco tha has never been used or has no plant in it.

IC has one just like RIU so much more, the layout is better an everything.

Maybe my diary starting in two days can inspire one?

would/could a light mist with a very weak bleach water solution work? i recently had some type of mold forming on the organic fiber cell pots i was using to clone in. i hit them with some light misting of weak bleach water (you couldn't even smell the bleach) and it worked. :peace:
