Always been a promix person, I make variations of my mix(ocean forest) (happy frog) (roots) tried a few, just bought my first 5 airpots so excited:) looking for info on coco how to use, what are preferred brands, etc, cut it with soil conditioner or other "goodies" (gaunos) and what nots, I'm also heavy handed on the perlite, use with coco as well?

I generally use an 80/20 coco/perlite.

You'll need coco specific NUTES that are generally higher in Ca and Mg than most, lower in K than most with a good amount of N.

You should check if your coco has been buffeted or not.

If it hasn't you'll need to charge it with some Ca and Mg and some base nutes.

It's a good idea once a week to feed a CalMag product at deficiency strength to the coco.

Ph can be pretty much anywhere between 5.2-6.5 but optimal ph of NUTE solution going in is 5.8.

Get 20% runoff each time you water.

Feed every time you water.

Monitor your ppm going in versus the ppm coming out.

Don't allow the coco to dry out as it causes salt accumulation and pH change within the coco.

H&G or canna offer quality products...i use pure coco with coco specific nutrients.I have never needed a cal/mag supplement as it is in my base nutrients.

I've heard a lot of hype about coco mediums and cal/mag deficiency. I have been growing in coco for a while now and honestly... I have no idea if there is any merit to it. I've heard if you use city water you will have more then enough cal/mag, but it all seems very wife's tale-ish. Just to be safe, I put 1 ml of cal/mag in every gallon of nutrients I mix. It's either like a multi-vitamin for my plants or a placebo for me, I guess it doesn't matter, but I've never had a problem. Cal/mag is cheap and I can't see how adding such a small amount could hurt. It's worked for me so far I guess...

I have a theory that what a lot of people are recognizing as a cal/mag def, is actually the symptoms of salt build up and nutrient lock out. Coco gets almost crystallized if it doesn't have proper drainage.

i agree. run-off is key, just like using coco specific nutes. i've been in coco for double digit years, and the only time i needed to supp. it (epsom salt) is when i used non coco specific nutes.

Drip clean @ 5ml per gal stops the salt build up ...Sm-90 keeps the fungus gnats under control.I really can't say enough good things about coco as it is an excellent substrate.

I pretty much do the same. My plants were yellowing on me like they needed more food with H & G and then realized it is just the strain. I don't bother with perlite either anymore. I keep mine on 2 feeds twice a day for 1 minute in 2 gallon smart pots. Snagged me 2 pounds under 1 x 1000w. If you are close to a grow shop try using the bagged coco. I started off using the bricks but I now upgraded to the bagged stuff. I love it and saves me a ton of time.

I will say that 7 gallons in coco is a bit of overkill. What light are you using? Are you going to give drain to waste a try? I am not an expert but I know a thing or two.:bigjoint:

Here's my thing, I am medical and my mom is medical, unfortunately I found myself on probation after letting my temper tell some guy he was being an asshole in a physical fashion of sorts. Anyway the explanation, I'd like to grow some big uns, I currently own 3x1000's and a600 my first couple grows consisted of 400s and 600s love em both, my current setu, I have 10 in flower under 2 1000 but the lights are off for three days started last night, then I have my next batch in there second week of 12/12 and they have started to flower rather quickly, those 10 are small bumper drop while I veg my next big project, in my third and final area I have 14 clones and one auto, the auto is kickin ass, will provide pics,
First tent, 5x10 with 2 1000s
First pic is the right side of tent and 6 plants,
