COB kit for a 4x4

Hello all, im looking for some advice on lighting my 4x4 gorilla tent. I'm interested in COB lighting, and have been doing research for the past few months. I like the look and ease of Amare, but i cannot afford victors price tag and the outdated COBS. I have seen the SE 450 in person and its well built but i think it can be better. Thats why i am interested in COB kits. Ive been looking at cutter's grow kits and timbers pre-assembled kits.I will be growing in a 4x4 at the normal height of the tent, but can always use the extension kit. My setup is two stainless steel shelves close together, with a 3x3 area which has 4 drilled black hydro buckets on top, all of which drain into a black reservoir underneath the buckets. it will be a recirculating system with 2 water feeds and an airstones in each bucket as well as in the main reservoir .

  • What is the difference in the COBS each use and the pin heat sinks?
  • How many lights will be needed to light a 4x4 adequately,(I was thinking 6-8) and what wattage (200,225,250,300 on timber).
  • If i get 6 on Timber assembled it is 629.00 USD... But if i buy 8 from cutter un-assembled it is 681.54 USD..(why the price jump from 4-6 units? im in Canada so i have to pay import fees/customs an shit... the 'flat rate box ' 'free shipping in US' reflects that pricing....?)
So whats the best option to go with, as i have never done any electrical work, so DIY electrical can be a lil intimidating for me. Last thing i need it to burn down the building lol. Any other advice or need any other information let me know, :)

Timbers drivers are already completely ready. Just plug in push the color votes leads in to cob mount and you're golden. The cutter kits you need to solder the driver and dimmer which can be easy depending on the connections they come with. Then run the wires.

I went for timber because of the super easy and clea. Look of his drivers. I'd like to see him just sell set up drivers because after that it's all too easy.

where is the cutter kits at? do they come with heat sink?

I just looked the heat sinks are a little different 50-60w? vs 73w, similar cobs/reflectors, different drivers.

$50 bucks more for 2 more....I guess that's not bad at all if you consider the differences.

I like the better driver and heatsinks myself and it's better for me personally in the U.S.

Ive seen all the videos for DIY, just still feel intimidated by it.

with timber i cannot get 8 cobs, only 6. Does the owner do custom cobs? Will he be able to do a custom rigged 8 COB version? seems viable

Hello @Tangloa,

Thanks for your post - we would be happy to assist with a custom (8) COB solution that is ready to hang. I sent you a Pm to discuss.

Have a great weekend.

Regards,
Dan
