Co2 problem

Mixed up 3, 2 liter bottles of sugar, yeast and water for Co2 and placed them in the flowering closet. 24 hours passed and I start to smell this real strong beer smell. Everything looked ok with the ladies, but about two hours after that, all of them looked very sick. Went to check the Ph and found this. How the hell and why??? All of the plants roots developed a 2" thick coat of what looked like dough. I changed the water in each tote to just Ph adjusted water and rinsed the roots off before returning each lady to their perspective container. 48hrs later and they still look sick. A lot of dead fan leaves but I believe they may pull through, I hope so. I fcuked up big time...

i don't know about the root stuff. the smell is normal. how much sugar/yeast did you use? i use 2 cups of sugar mixed with 1 tsp of yeast per 2 liter bottle.

I am intrigued, would research but need more pics of the affected plants/roots please? I am confused about the "2" coat of dough"...

what exactly are you trying to show in the pic above?

i was wondering if that was the hydro mix too. that would certainly explain the 2" root dough. lol

while you were gone the bottles overflowed. Almost happened to me. The initial reaction made by your yeast/water/sugar reaction is to foam way up and then settle some. So... while you stepped out it overflowed then settled back.

The picture is the reservoir. All of the foam and bubbles occured some how through the air. Three 2 liter bottles where placed on the floor, in the closet next to the reservoirs. The 2 liter bottles where filled half way with water and 4Tbsp. of sugar and 2Tbsp. of yeast where added to the mix. None of the Co2 mix was ever added to the reservoirs.

I didn't get any pics of the roots. I was to concern with trying to save the ladies. Imagine if you were to mix up some cookie dough. Now imagine that batch of dough mixed up in your reservoir. That's what I ended up with. That dough like substance also completed covered the roots like a force field. Was about 2" thick all the way around the roots...

i just noticed that you typed you mixture out as a 2/1 mix...... a post before mentions 2 Cups of sugar : 1 Tablespoon of yeast.
I know nothing about either of these so i have no idea who's right. Just noticed the big difference

its better if u just talk to your plants or breath on them or step into the room. The co2 you are breathing out range up to 5000 ppm. ussually if u step into a room about 10x10 the co2 level in the room will rise up to about 500-800ppm.

either your shit overflowed somehow into your resevoir or it isn't the co2 causing the problem. No way co2 would react through the air with your resevoir like that. Could you have possibly gotten yeast or anything in the res water?
