Call me a conspiracy nut, but in my opinion, weed will never be federally legal on the level that tobacco and alcohol is. NEVER. Too much money in keeping it illegal.

Weed will never be legal - period-

Good article! Thanks for that.

Beansly's short-sighted opinion aside, the CATO Institute guy sums it up well:

On many fronts, Prop 19 might have less impact than proponents or opponents suggest. But Prop 19 might generate benefits.

If Prop 19 passes, this will encourage other states to legalize. And if enough states do so, the pressure on the federal government could pass a tipping point.

In a free society, the presumption must be that people can smoke, snort, eat or inject whatever they wish, so long as they do not harm others. The burden of proof should rest on those who would ban marijuana, not those who want it legal. That burden has never been met.

By adopting Prop 19, California can restore a presumption of liberty. That is reason enough.
I agree, that is reason enough. :bigjoint:

I voted yes.

Oh get a life you self-important prick.
LMAO

He's right. Your opinion is short sighted. Like the article said, if other states start adopting legalization the federal government won't have much choice but to legalize.

10th Amendment, that's what is needed to stop the Feds. A breakaway from the Union. It would solve a lot more problems than the Fed's Drug Prohibition. The mid-east war would end, the worthless Federal Reserve Dollar would end and a new currency could be made. Manufacturing jobs that the Federal politician's big money contributors send over seas would be no more, suppressed technology like alternate energy and mass production of electric and bio-diesel vehicles could start.

People could trade between the States in whatever they manufactured , no more importing Walmart made in China junk. As long as Washington D.C. runs the country we are fucked. Forget about Democrat or Republican... it's passed time to stop voting in and out the same old "MEET THE NEW BOSS...SAME AS THE OLD BOSS concept. The Fed's have ran amok with so much power and shitting on the rights of the States that turning the Federal Govt around is IMPOSSIBLE. Forget about fighting them and trying to change them, just put effort into backing pro-10th amendment people in your State Govt's. All it would take is for just ONE State...to tell the Fed's ..FUCK YOU...we are seceding from the Union, you have no more authority over us, kicking out all Federal officials, judges, prosecutors and Federal law enforcement in that State.THEN....the domino effect would take place, other States would fall in line FAST doing the same thing.

There is no change that will ever happen inside the Federal Govt. except bad change if its allowed to keep growing in power. There is no political savior or political party that will come shining through the Federal Govt. like a guiding light. The 10th Amendment is the only way to turn things around with the good interest of WE THE PEOPLE in mind.

It's also possible that a 10th Amendment secession could kick start a second civil war/American Revolution hybrid war, with some States fighting for the Feds against other States seceding with maybe even Washington D.C. asking European countries for military help, but I still see the 10th Amendment Movement as a fight worth fighting.

It would be worth taking the risk just to end the Drug War. The U.S. has 5 % of the world's population and 25% of the world's incarcerated, the Fed's won't ever change. Once rights are taken away...they don't just give them back, they have to be TAKEN back. The War on Drugs is really The War on WE THE PEOPLE. I'd rather have countries like...The Republic of California, ...The Republic of Texas....The Republic of Colorado, ect...you get the picture, 50 individual Republics , but all following the Constitution. The Founding Fathers put the 10th Amendment in the Constitution to counter an oppressive and abusive Federal Govt. over reaching its powers. Secession would bring with it far more benefits than just ending Drug Prohibition ,but put the power back into the hands of WE THE PEOPLE.

I was just giving your unimaginative thread the attention I thought it deserved, which basically amounts to "hey what do you think about prop 219???"

It doesn't matter if it passes in cali or any other state. Your gonna have to pass it federally to give me a hard on, and until then, "helpless innocent" stoners are gonna complain because their businesses are getting raided. Shit im, like the guy int he article said. Claims made by both sides of the arguments are exaggerated. The whole mmj scene is just one legal loophole states can jump through to make some money, and I plan to exploit it till they take it back away from us.
