:weed: LOL

There is a lot going on right now. Washington state is attempting to do what Massachussets did with decriminalization. There is also a federal bill that's in the senate right now to decriminalize on a federal level.

Times are changing!

Marijuana inc on cnbc jan 22nd
Oh, I see. Does anyone know how this federal bill will be looked at? Is it just a waiting game till they decide to look at it? Or is there a specific date? I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but It's hard since I want to see decrim so bad. The laws in my state for possession are absolutely ridiculous.

*edit- nevermind, i did some research and found that it never even made it to a committee. Shame.

To eliminate most Federal penalties for possession of marijuana for personal use, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ..Act to Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults’.
SEC. 2. ELIMINATION OF CERTAIN MARIJUANA-RELATED PENALTIES.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no penalty may be imposed under an Act of Congress for the possession of marijuana for personal use, or for the not-for-profit transfer between adults of marijuana for personal use. For the purposes of this section, possession of 100 grams or less of marijuana shall be presumed to be for personal use, as shall the not-for-profit transfer of one ounce or less of marijuana, except that the civil penalty provided in section 405 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 844a) may be imposed for the public use of marijuana if the amount of the penalty does not exceed $100.

This raises a couple questions. 1. Does that mean federal law overrides state law on MJ? If so do the states rewrite their laws to match the gov.? I guess I dont get it when they say its a federal law...

2. If your only allowed to have 1oo grams, are you allowed to grow it? ANd if not whos growing the weed?

Lastly, does anyone know the date of that video on you tube?

What I learned in politics class is that yes, federal laws always supersede those of the state. That's why you hear of those pot pharmacies being busted by the feds in California. Most of the time with citizens though, the federal government won't even bother, so the state laws are used.

We have too much government. It's time to downsize. Federal, state, county, city, township, blah, blah, blah. How many suits do we really need living off of our tax dollars?

The point of all this is to try to keep the balance of power equal. If the Federal government had all the power, It's quite easy for it to become corrupt (though many would argue this is already the case). Also, having government in state is supposed to represent the beliefs of the people in said state in the federal government.

OMG how funny is that? Equal balance of power without corruption?

Federal goverment - corrupt

State government - my state governer is being impeached for corruption right now

city government - is like "training corruption" it's where they learn how to steal and lie.
