CMH lighting help in my 4x4 tent

I have a 4x4 tent that Im running this CMH lighting in currently. All of my other tents are LED but I wanted to give this a go. The light has settings of 240W, 480W, 630W, and “Super Lumen” I currently am running the tent on the 480W setting, just flipped to 12/12 today. Wondering if I should stay at 480W or if it’s safe to bump to 630W in a 4x4? Pretty well ventilated. (Wanted to let these get bigger before flower but my stash is going dry lol)

I would run the lamp at full power and keep an eye on temp. and plant performance

So you think I’m good to go to “super lumen”?

absolutely, see what the light can do.

If you can manage temps and have the vertical height to maintain a safe distance between canopy and light then by all means go full power.

How tall is your tent? I run the same set up in a 4x4 and start out at least 25 inches otherwise you may get bleaching or other problems. Just remember start a little at a time

perfect! My light only runs about 17 degrees hotter than my room so you should be fine just look out for heat stress and bleaching.

Super lumens will hurt ur lamps as i understand it. I think its only meant to be used on older lamps that are about to be replaced.

Im going to try out 630W for a while don’t wanna push it all the way to super lumen for this exact reason, been 3 days of 630 now and everything has been steady still

I've never ran any bulbs on "super lumens", whether it be HPS/MH or CMH. I was always told to run em at their designed wattage. If they're getting old then replace em, dont jack the power up and risk an incident.

Regardless, I have a couple 4x8 tents with two dual bulb 630's in each, no dim features. Me *personally*, I set my fixtures high up and let the plants grow into them. Once stretch is over I'll lower slowly until within 12"-16", depends how the plants react.

Ironic how people are suggesting for you to run your ballasts at full retard mode yet all you have mentioned is that you just hit flower. No one's asked how big the plants are, how far you have the lights from canopy, etc. Make sure your VPD is on point... You'll have better results going from less to more light versus the opposite. Keep it at 630 and you'll be happy.
