CMH Bulb Type. How To Tell?

Alright, here is an embarrassing question. I ordered a kit that was supposed to come with a CMH bulb 4200k for vegging. Nowhere on the bulb does it specify that it is 4200k. With Philips, how can I tell if the bulb is 3100k or 4200k?

By the color. You will have a more red hue with the 3100k. More white with 4200k. Still white light. When I picked up my cmh. While at the shop I opened the box to make sure it's all there. Me and the manager went over everything and couldn't find the kelvin rating on anything either.

Ah. At least I'm not alone. So once I have the light turned on, if it has a reddish hue, its 3100k, right?

Yeah. You will notice the red color more from the ambient light in the room or how it reflects off the walls.

Don't look directly at the bulb while it's on even with glasses. That shit is so bright.

Does it specify 930 0r 940 on the end? is it mogul or pgz? Genuine philips will specify on the end if it's pgz.

Was thinking it was 940 but after looking at the box it is 942;
On a side note solis tek is making their own version of this lamp in 3200K and ushio has something similar going on.

Sexy tent! And thank you for clearing up my light bulb confusion. I should be starting my grow this week and was worried that I may have had the wrong bulb delivered with this kit. Whew.

Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully that'll keep prices of the bulb reasonable.

I paid about 10 more dollars for the solis version but they boast no uv blocking and a low E glass for more uv than philips. Not sure of the details on the ushios .

Is it quartz like the Phillips bulb is or borosilicate like flourescents.

Solis tek as been known to lie before. That's why their cob light failed and was pulled.

Their hps bulbs, the different wattages have the same spectrum charts on the bulb boxes but they have a different cri. So how is the spectrum the same and the cri different. If that's even the actual spectrum they produce.

Not sure, I only own one. The quality of glass was a talking point though. I'm with solis totally but I always give them all a spin, I'll be having a ushio 315 soon.
My problem isn't really lamps, they're all good, it's finding a decent ballast other than genuine philips. I've ordered whatever cycloptics is sourcing now, it certainly better not be a phantom rebranded , they used welthink awhile back , I'd try one of those but I think welthink has become sunplix (which I'm trying to source a ballast from too, it's got features the other ballasts don't have and also boasts a circuit that prolongs lamp life to 50k hours but you know how advertising goes.

Actually that was a simple question, the outer envelope appears to be the same glass as philips but you can look at the info on their page.
