Cloth pots vs hard pots

Does anyone notice a difference when using hard pots vs cloth pots? I’ve been using only cloth pots for the last few grows But I need to transplant an overly vegging plant from a 5 gallon to something bigger. So I went and bought a huge plastic pot and transplanted. I noticed that the root system exploded way quicker in the hard shelled pot and now after only maybe 3-4 weeks they have pretty much expanded through that new pot as well. Growth also exploded and I don’t think it’s just the transplant I really think the pitting made a difference. I mean water doesn’t leak out the sides of plastic pots like the cloth pots so that could be a big factor to even root spreading. Idk. I’m just trying to look into it because I may switch back. I used to grow in 5 gallon buckets but they got too heavy to lug around. Got one purple alien super cropped filling out a 4x4

I love the fabric pots, but it's so dry here they dry out a lot faster, so I'm using plastic 15gal. I have a huge box of fabric pots that I would love to use, but I would have to water way more, and every 2 days is bad enough with the plastic, lol.

And if you're having problems with water running out the sides in fabric, the soil needs better drainage or has become hydrophobic, and needs some yucca or something.

I just harvested 2 clones, 1 in fabric and the other in plastic, both grew to about the same size, 5oz a plant. Both in 5 gallon pots. Didn’t notice any considerable difference other than the fabric pot clone grew a little wider.

I grow in DTW coco and prefer hard plastic pots to the fabric. I found fabric pots dried quicker in between feeds, and you don't want your coco dry... ever.

That and the salt build up on the fabric pots. So I ditched them for the hard pots too.

If I grew in soil I'd go back to fabric.

If you want a hard pot that air prunes like fabric pots......use air pots.......I wouldn't use anything else.
These are roots at 2 weeks.

What grow medium do you use with the airpots? I'm in the process of trying to decide on which pot/grow medium combo I want to use for my first grow. Pretty overwhelmed by all the options!
I use a 70/30 coco/perlite mix.
If you decide to go with air pots I suggest covering them in pantyhose to prevent fungus gnats from getting in the holes.

The advantages of coco is that you control the feeding, you can't over water, faster growth, and you can grow a tree in a 2 gallon pot of coco.
My last grow I yielded 19.4 oz. off 3 plants with only 23 days of veg.

I got 10oz off 2 plants with promix and FF Nutes, 1 smart pot, the other plastic, so there may be some truth to the coco growth. I got a 20lb bag of coco, just haven’t used it yet. Wanna get through my promix before I jump into the coco world.

How did you do that? I’d like to know because I use coco mixed with roots organic formula and I top dress

How did I do what?.
Yield 19oz. off 3 plants with a 23 day veg?
Coco is drain to waste hydroponics........it's made to be fed daily with liquid nutes.
You'll never achieve it with that dry stuff.
